"Nothing specific," said Kinexa.  "I'm sure I can find my way around campus if I need to."

"Yeah, it seems to have a simple layout," Taia said. "Better than a lot of human cities."

"That, and I have some useful tricks to help," said Kinexa.  "But I'm glad that it isn't more complicated, yes."

"Ah. How many tricks do your cybernetics have?" Taia asked.

"Nothing spectacular," said Kinexa.  "Just transportation, really.  Most of my gear isn't implanted, and my telepathy is natural."

"Ah. Then can you pull out basic information with telepath then?" Taia asked.

"From general collective thoughts, yes," said Kinexa.  "They aren't keyed to individual egos-- just a pool of common knowledge."

"Interesting. I didn't know that was a thing," Taia said.

"It's a technique we learn on Enceladus," said Kinexa.  "Very convenient, because we really aren't invading anyone's individual privacy-- we don't know who has what thought, and it's all impersonal stuff, usually."

"That's interesting," Taia said. "We don't have any telepaths."

"Outside of Enceladus, they aren't very common," said Kinexa.  "I imagine they have to teach themselves, in other cultures... that seems like it could be tricky.  Or horrible."

"I know the humans have a few," Taia said.

"Yes, I'm told they do," said Kinexa.  "I've never met one.  It might be interesting."

"We can try finding one," Taia said.

"True," said Kinexa.  "I'm fairly sure if one turned up near enough to me, I'd notice them-- and they might notice me, too, if they're well-trained enough."

"Interesting, it would be nice if it we a learnable skill," Taia said.

"Well, you can train with it quite a lot," said Kinexa, "but I have no idea how to make non-telepaths telepathic.  There might be a way, of course."

"Yeah, a shame," Taia said. "But I guess it'd be like trying to teach a human to breathe underwater."

"...although with technology, they can," said Kinexa, thoughtfully.  "I wonder if there's an equivalent?  Far beyond what I know, though."

"Sure, but it's not really breathing water," Taia said.

"I'm told that there are options, at least using some advanced technology," said Kinexa.  "...I suppose it wouldn't really be the same, though, would it?"

Taia stretched.

"Shall we head back?" she asked.

"We might as well," said Kinexa.  "We ought to get dinner sometime, too."

"Food would be good," Terri said.

"Then let's go!" said Kinexa.  She did remember to change, at least.
