RTJ/Character Creation

The first thing I'd like from potential players is a rough idea of your character.  Pantheon, general description, and purviews you want to pursue.

If you are open to multiple ideas, you can pitch them, but please tell me which one is your favorite or your preferences.  If I get 7 rtjs and all of them have multiple character ideas, it makes it really hard to figure out which characters fit well together.

I'll then ask you questions to flesh out the character a bit.  Then I will look to see who best fits the game, and choose which players to add.

Once you have been chosen you will create your character.  Legend will begin at 3, no raising it higher at start.  All other aspects of the beginning character creation are as normal.

This game will begin with a prelude of sorts, a short story that will introduce the characters and push them into higher levels of power fairly quickly before the full story unfolds.

RTJ/Character Creation

Important guidelines/reminders for players

This is a heroic, superhero-esque game about the war between the gods and the titans, and about the struggle of scions growing into their powers.  Please keep this in mind when you design your character.  Try to design a character that will fit into that theme as the game goes.  The idea of a reluctant hero is fine, but you as a player need to make sure your character is set up, and you are prepared, to have him turn into a hero.  If you struggle to think of any reason why your character would join in the fight against titanspawn, then you're designing the wrong type of character.

Likewise, This game will not focus on your character at an individual level.  It will focus on the scions as a band.  This means your character's day to day activities as a mortal, his personal struggles, will all take a back seat to the story at hand, and may not really be addressed at all.  So try not to create a character that is totally focused on his own personal issues.

Lastly, combat will be a part of this game.  A good sized part.  But it will not be everything.  It isn't wise to make a character that is incapable of surviving a fight, just as it is unwise to make a character TOTALLY focused on fighting.  A more realistic balance is a good idea.  And even if you make a more social or cerebral character, you might want to make him or her capable of a little bit of fighting, or at least avoiding death.

RTJ/Character Creation

These questions should be answered while you are making your character, to help you and me flesh out your character and their role in the setting.  Please answer them in pm.

Questions about you as a player

1) What is your favorite aspect of scion?  What do you like to focus on in a scion game, or more specifically what are some aspects you'd like to focus on with this character?

2)What is your least favorite aspect of scion, or things you'd like to avoid?

3)Scion is a game with a very mixed theme.  One big aspect is the overwar with the titans and gods.  This tends to lend itself to big, action-adventure style story arcs that culminate in huge battles that basically end the game.  right now, that is not my intention, but I want to know how you feel about that, if that appeals to you, or if a game that is a bit more mundane and less cataclysmic appeals.

4)This is a mature game, and so it will deal with serious, and possibly pretty dark issues.  Gods and titans do a lot of horrible stuff in mythology, and their morality is often quite alien and cruel.  What do you feel is your limit in that sense?  anything you really don't like to see or even talk about in game?

5)Scion also lends itself quite a bit to the more sexual aspects of games, with the various charms and story elements of that nature.  I don't run adult games of that sort, but I am open to pushing the limits in terms of story and character (in other words, getting close to what you'd see in a rated R movie, if it is something that affects the story and not just some pointless 'fun')  What do you feel is your stance on that?

6) with the last few question in mind, scion can be a romantic game.  Heroic, epic mythological tales often have a romantic side, and I am more than willing to push in that direction for you as players.  For you, would that include a romantic relationship with an NPC, or PC?  I also know players often say they want it to be 'organic' if it occurs, but that's sort of an illusion, since I design everything in game outside of the pcs.  So if you had to describe the type of individual or relationship that may appeal to your character, what would it be?

7)any questions for me?  anything you want to discuss, or talk about before we begin?

Questions about your character

1) What do you want to focus on in growing your character?  what type of god do you possibly see your character growing into?

2) In a few words, describe what you would want your character's first visitation to be like (like violent, mysterious, insulting, etc.).  You will work through this with the storyteller, but I want to get your ideas of how you would want it to go in an ideal situation.

3) how would your character view his or her relationship with their divine parent now?

4) how does your character view the idea of fighting a divine war?

5) What does your character want to achieve in their life?
