Re: The Steps of Mount Gram OOC

I'm at work until tomorrow morning, so don't have access to my book...and am new to the system.

What stance is Gundolph likely to be in currently?

In reply to Gundolph Bolger (msg # 109):

As I can’t be in Rearward, you could adopt that stance so you can use your bow and not be attacked in melee.

One of the brigands has a parry of +1, all the others have no parry ratings.

Eradan don’t worry about re-rolling as your shot would still hit. What would you like to do with that 6 you got?

I'm pretty sure we're all good with giving you the time to make your roll and write up! Everyone has their own flavor and that's part of the fun :)

Re: The Steps of Mount Gram OOC

ok...made the roll...rolled Eye of Sauron:  13:41, Today: Gundolph Bolger rolled a total of 7 (4 if weary): a failure with the Eye of Sauron (complications) using the The One Ring with a target of 18 with rolls of 11 (Feat Die), 4, 3.  Opening Volley.  Bow.

What does this do to my result...is it just an autofail, or is there some more dire outcome?

In reply to Gundolph Bolger (msg # 119):

Eye of Sauron is just zero, unless you’re Miserable, in which case it becomes auto-fail.

There are also some optional rules about it triggering misfortune and/or attracting the attention of Sauron, but that would probably be behind the Loremaster’s screen.

Re: The Steps of Mount Gram OOC

It isn't an auto fail unless you have the miserable status where your current hope score is equal to or lower than your current shadow score. If you aren't miserable the eye of Sauron just counts as a 0. However, the LM can also add to the Eye Awareness of the party on eye of Sauron rolls, but this is at their discretion and is an advanced rule. Furthermore I believe RAW that mechanic is only for eyes rolled outside of combat.

TLDR: eye is worth 0, no auto fail unless miserable.

Re: The Steps of Mount Gram OOC

So basically, a result of 11 vs TN 18 simply means...you missed your target.

Re: The Steps of Mount Gram OOC

In reply to Gundolph Bolger (msg # 122):

Close; if you look at the read out it says "Gundolph Bolger rolled a total of 7 (4 if weary)"

Then further down it says,

"target of 18 with rolls of 11 (Feat Die), 4, 3."

The 11 is the roll on the feat die. On the One Ring dice 11 is replaced by Eye of Sauron and 12 by Gandalf rune. So what you actually rolled is 7 against TN 18. The 11 is the feat die roll which is zero because Eye.

Re: The Steps of Mount Gram OOC

are fired arrows retrievable or are they deemed damaged beyond use after fired.  If reusable I'll post that Gundolph retrieves his arrow...if not, I won't :)

In reply to Gundolph Bolger (msg # 125):

There's no mechanical benefit to doing so but you can include it in your roleplay certainly. TOR doesn't require you to keep a tally of how many arrows you have, it's added that you have enough.

Re: The Steps of Mount Gram OOC

So as of right now I am just waiting on what Eradan wants to do since I would like to have at least most of the group decide on if they want to take time to pursue the bandits.
