Trevion:
My only concern would be Otis and Ereth: If they’re forced to sleep beneath their personal rainstorms, they’ll likely need the services of an apothecary at some point, as they’ll both almost certainly catch cold.

Good point.  I’m assuming the personal storm is temporary.  If the spell is permanent, this game won’t last long.

It could also severely hamper the party’s ability to surprise enemies.

Zoknod the hobgoblin chieftain sits contentedly sharpening his favorite axe, deep in his underground lair. A sound catches his attention and he looks up, frowning. ”Is it…raining in here?” he wonders.

Re: OOC

Cass:
In that case, we are probably due for our 1st rest.

I suppose. Meandering about the portrait gallery would be restful if you're not being soaked.

Def one turn of rest after combat.

Trevion:
Host, you wouldn’t happen to be a fan of the films of Terry Gilliam, would you?

I think so. Enough anyway. I'd could probably pick him out of the Monty Python lineup. You'd lose me pretty quickly if you started talking about Python gags and bits from their sketch show.

But my favorite movies would be like... The Deer Hunter or Midnight Cowboy. It's got to be from the 70's and depressing as all get out.

And you know who else I'm a fan of? Raymond Carver.

I'll update tomorrow.

This one's a real looker, a RILF

"RILF" - that's classic. Well done!

No actual picture of the RILF?  Or is her beauty only in the eye of the beholder?

I was serious about using the 1st portrait of the Rump rain-caster as an umbrella....

In reply to Cassandra (msg # 533):

While generous in number, the portraits are by no means equal to the number of Rumps on offer in the manor. But they aren't labeled, so I have to make informed guesses to match the portrait to its corresponding Rump.

You know, I hadn't initially realized quite how much fertile ground for the development of wordplay the family name would supply -- perhaps even beyond the expectations of the original writers. See above.

Re: OOC

If you're considering a turn attempt, please see the addition of a Tegel Manor rule.

Speaking of rules, I wasn't sure if everybody but Trevion and Brant should be surprised for the first round since they were busy doing other things? I can let it go this time, but I want to get it right next time.

Re: OOC

If anyone has any thoughts on what sort of character would make a sound addition to the group at this point, please let me know. Whenever I’m able to rejoin the game, I’ll try to aim for whatever the majority thinks would make the best addition (accounting, of course, for what the dice allow).

Re: OOC

This would be a good time to review the OSRIC rules on dying and death:

OSRIC:
When hit points reach 0, the character is unconscious and will continue to lose one hit point per round from blood loss until death occurs at –10 hp. Note that any additional damage suffered by an unconscious character (aside from bleeding) will kill him or her instantly. The blood loss of 1 hit point per round may be stopped immediately in the same round that aid of some kind is administered to the wounded character. Being knocked unconscious is quite serious; even after returning to 1 or more hp (by means of a healing spell, potion, or natural rest) the character will remain in a coma for 1-6 turns and must rest for a minimum of one week before he or she will be capable of resuming any sort of strenuous activity, mental or physical. If a character is reduced to –6 hit points or below, the scars of the wound will likely be borne for the rest of the character’s life.

Well, I rolled anyway on the assumption that OSRIC did not have critical hits, so no harm done. I just wondered.

Cass, I looked at the dice roller. Wasn't your turn attempt successful?

In reply to The Host (msg # 540):

Not Cass, but yes, a roll of 10 is successful (and I assume the dice roller factored in the -1).

Re: OOC

In reply to The Host (msg # 540):

@Host: yes, my attempt to turn was a result of 10 (after rolling d20 and subtracting 1 - which was just enough to turn).  I was not able to look up the OSRIC table until just now to see what I needed - sorry I did not confirm the positive effect when I posted.  But the dice roller already subtracted out the Tegel Manor -1 curse.  I then rolled 6 on 2d6 for # of undead turned.  Didn’t realize you would process the turn so quickly.  Perhaps it was just a delayed reaction (they attacked and then fled) by the skeletons...

We can hand wave away the fleeing skeletons and have Otis's attack drop the last of the eight. You're out of combat.

He'll be in a coma for 1 to 6 turns after which he will need one week of convalescence before he resumes adventuring. Until then, he will be able to talk under his own power but do little else.

Re: OOC

Some champion of light, huh?

Truly sorry for that misstep, everyone. Thankfully, I think the only lasting harm was to Trevion himself. Hopefully Brant’s injuries can be effectively dealt with soon.

Maybe seeing Trevion to a safe spot can be handwaved so it doesn’t interfere with the party’s ongoing explorations? I really wouldn’t want the character to serve as a hindrance to the ongoing adventure.

Many thanks for the aid, Cassandra.

Re: OOC

There will be a fair bit of hand waving. Is the party going to do anything else in the manor after the one turn of rest or head straight back to the city?

Re: OOC

I think while we are all lvl 1, there will be MANY trips back and forth to town to rest 1 week to deal with hitting 0 hp.  My only immediate concern is our having the finances to cover a week’s worth of accommodations.  Unless we can find any obvious “resources” in these first couple of rooms - even the one from which the skeletons emerged, I think we need to head back to town for a week (hand-waved) before we continue our exploration of the Manor.
