Re: OOC

Interesting idea about wearing the Ring as a pendant. It’s almost as if the Ring wants to be found. It’s such a little thing. A trifle, really. Precious, to some. It’s a shame that it never served its original purpose. Everyone deserves a wedding. A chance to be happy. A white dress, with lavender in her hair.

OOC: Only mildly relevant fact: my RL wife lately purchased a pot full of growing lavender.

Brant pauses for a moment as if listening to dark whispers worming through his mind...

Question: Does anyone recall if there was anything that might be considered “scrap metal” in the nearby torture chamber, so we could test Cassandra’s theory?

Re: OOC

Just the magically enchanted chains over the pit and the “whatever you do, don’t yank my” chain held by the statue.  I just threw an iron spike to delay its progress, perhaps, long enough to oil-flame the ooze.

I may say that while I haven't really gotten some of the GM's earlier humor, I greatly enjoy Mush. He's cute.

Re: OOC

@Party: Does anyone have any thoughts on the potential meaning of the chant, before we move from the current bedroom, East or South (toward the chanting).

@DM: is the chanting coming from the southern wall itself or from the room beyond the southern door or can we not make such a determination?

Re: OOC

I'll tell you one thing: I don't know the meaning to that chant (yet). I sorta wish that I had spent some time in France reading through all of TM. Maybe over Thanksgiving I will and then try to work in a few more meta quests as opposed to the stuff I think of ad hoc.

You can not yet make that determination but it is within your power to do so.

Re: OOC

I was wondering if the meadow referred to the dung beetle courtyard and bones were perhaps mixed in with the dung on the ground.

But, perhaps there will be a room further in that has a mural, tapestry or painting relevant to the chant.

We are still trying to figure out how to get a lavender ribbon for my hair...

Re: OOC

I ran across this description in the History of the Danes by Saxo Grammaticus (Book 8 Section 242) which somehow reminded me of Tegel Manor "The hall, completely ruinous and thick with a vile, powerful odor, they saw crammed with everything that could disgust the eye or mind. The door-posts smeared with age-old soot, the walls plastered with slime, the ceiling composed of spikes, the floor crawling with snakes and spattered with every kind of filth...The bloodless apparitions of monsters squatted on the iron seats, which were railed off by leaden trellises, while fearful porters (gate-guards) were stationed to keep watch at the threshold. Some of these, shrieking, wielded rows of clubs, others played an ugly game of tossing a goatskin to one another..."

Re: OOC

Just a thought: Since these rooms are genuinely empty (see also: absent of the generalized chaos that holds sway over the rest of the house), they might serve as a good spot to rally/rest/cast healing spells in the midst of our explorations. As in, if we need a pause, but don’t want to abandon things entirely and head to the inn.

Mush's making the best of his existential hell, it is. It's getting on with it, as Sartre would say.

Frankly, I was surprised to find a room that was pure boon. I just fleshed it out a little.

Clearly, you've never been to a Resident Evil safe room.

I'm going to have to decide what type the manor ghosts will turn as.

Re: OOC

Sure. You can make one attempt per round.

Please note that these types of non-standard encounters will tend to have more than one solution.

I went with Type 3 undead because the dancers' have a paralysis-like ability.

Silence 15'r on the orchestra might work.. but unfortunately can't cast that for another couple of levels.
