i feel that an attribute score of 5 is significantly low on a die roll.

would you guys have to much of a problem if i adjusted his CON from a 5/25 to and 8/40. I feel that a 40 is about as low an attribute a PC could be made to suffer.

are there any other attributes under an 8 i haven't seen or acknowledge?

No problem from me, I think a flexible GM is a wonderful thing.

My lowest seems to be a seven, though I have three eights. Ugh.

As I drill down into the actual rule book, I find on page 48 the method I had initially used from the QuickStart Rules as Option 5. Any chance I can go back to that? I was actually pretty impressed with how fast you could come up with a playable character.

Thanks

DM, you can do what you like to his stats as far as I'm concerned. I'll be over here wallowing in my 6+1+1, 6+2+2, 6+3+3 EDU/SIZ/INT stats.

Ditto.
Also, are some stats determined by the manipulating the ones we have already rolled?

Still waiting to hear if I might get a slight bump to my education, to go with the idea that he is a writer with aspirations. I feel like he should have at least a little college.

you could swap your size and your education. that would give you a greater education and still leave around average in size.

so, an 8/40 is about the lowest i can see PCs carrying. i mean, come on, that is just under a 50/50 chance. that can be hard on PCs in CoC. so 8/40 as lowest allowable rolled stat. if not, bump it up to 8/40.

I am not unduly opposed to method 5. i haven't used the array before. if you want to try it out that should be fine. maybe it will work out well.

starting skill points:

your profession offers skills and the number of skill points for those skills. spread them as you see fit.

personal interest skills offer the character 2 x INT to put into ANY skill.

avoid putting points into Cthuhlu Mythos, consider it of limits until noted by the GM; thanks, management.

when and where necessary the GM may assign skills or skill points. mostly because PCs tend to be lame and unable to grasp the concepts and vision of the GM. i hear acclaimed directors of terrible arthouse films have this same problem. especially in france.

Soon to bed, will try to figure out the next step in the morning. Will check here first for help, suggestions and guidelines.

Glad to see no one is supposed to know about Cthulhu at the start. Much more the way I like to play.

Looks like a good group, fingers crossed, yet to have a really good COC experience.

"Lucky" Jake indeed. Just about as lucky as Dai is ruggedly handsome!

So I'm about done assigning my skill points; decided to shove a heap into Charm and a little Mech and Elec Repair; enough to be decent-ish, if that influences anyones choices at all. The rest (because it's the Drifter package) is all in physicals (for some reason); Jump, Climb, etc.

The only dilemma/question I'm having now is whether or not to stroll into town with my own axe or to pick one up when I need it...

per the Investigator Handbook

Occupational skill points are EDU x4 to be spent on Anthropology, History, Library Use, one interpersonal skill (Charm, Fast Talk, Intimidate, or Persuade), Occult, Other Language, Science (Astronomy), any one other skill as a personal or era specialty.

Personal skill points are INT x2 and can be spent on any skills.

Trying to get my sheet together. It is a mess.

It tells me sanity is pow*5, which would be 225, but the sheet only goes in to 99.

Should I use the original dice roll, 9*5=45?

In 6e Characteristics were expressed as the 3D6 roll. In 7e the 3D6 roll is multiplied by 5 to get a percentile range, like skills. SAN is now equal to POW.

Another 6e to 7e discrepancy is that table of unarmed attacks. It all just comes under the "Fighting (Brawling)" specialisation, which also covers the use of improvised and small weapons not covered by another specialisation (like knives). There's no longer a difference between punching someone and giving them a Glasgow Kiss.
