Out of Character chat

In reply to Jacob Westley (msg # 61):

Not a bad thing I guess, as it allows more focus on flavor than outcome.

And have the same chance of hitting.

Re: Out of Character chat

yeah, old school was cool. i remember playing in middle school in the mornings before school started; cereal or oatmeal, occasionally scrambled eggs or pancakes, and one chocolate milk and one plain milk alongside our morning DnD session. or star frontiers, or gamma world, or twilight 2000, or gang busters, and of course, top secret. those were the days.

Re: Out of Character chat

don't sweat character creation, we should be ready to roll this weekend.  once you have the preliminaries down go over to the point of origin thread and let us know how you came to be in town. remember that it needs to be practical, i'm going to use it in setting the game and getting us rolling.

thanks.

oh, i'll work out some gear for everyone also. it won't the super lean, starting out, poor-assed adventurer stuff. the PCs are real with real lives, and real lives comes with stuff. and usually boxes of it.

Re: Out of Character chat

I'm in town for a job interview. That should work both as a reason to be here, and a reason to send me to wherever I need to go first.

I was thinking I inherited a car, nothing fancy, but it gets me there.

How old is Bas? Sounds like he and Jake may have gone to grade school together, the democratizing effect of the public education system. Jake is 23.

Re: Out of Character chat

I am a bit older than you.  32 to be exact.

Also, while my family owns land and country home here, we have more prominent holdings in Savannah that my brother inherited.

Once I get clear of doctors and my work, I will update with more info on general knowledge.

Out of Character chat

Sorry the post is a bit speculative, but I didn't want to bog down the action with the minutiae of posting little more than "I enter the building" and then waiting for a "you see a guy" before actually introducing myself.

no sweat, so i'm thinking some sort of travel bag like a backpack or knapsack, maybe even a sea bag. change of clothes, some extra socks, skivvies, and probably some soap and foot powder. you already claimed a canteen, that works well, he is probably traveling with some money and few things in his pockets too. you jack knife, matches, maybe a pipe or some cigarettes. what else would he be traveling with?

maybe a cup and a small coffee pot for morning coffee on the road? a blanket or bedroll to sleep in. hobos of the era ride the rails with little more. Does he carry a pistol? flesh it out a bit as you think is appropriate for your traveling shamrock salesman.

This was the equipment list I drafted on my sheet;

Clothes and a Coat
Pocket Knife
Messenger Satchel
- Tool Roll
- A Polished Coal Keepsake
- Hard Biscuits (old)
- Book of Matches (3 left)
- Canteen of Water

So I think we're on a level. Adding a sea bag for bulkier items like a blanket and a change of clothes, as you suggest, would be a reasonable shout. He definitely wouldn't have a pistol or any kind of weapon; a pocket knife is about his limit. He's a drifter, not a fighter (even if he does know how to swing an axe...all that chopping firewood has got to be useful for something, right?). If he smokes it's only when he's offered one; I don't see him as having the means or the inclination to buy cigarettes or tobacco regularly.

edit: I've updated my char sheet to include the extra kit, if you want to ok it.

Really struggling with the character sheet. Should I drop an intro post anyway?
