Re: OOC

I never thought about it, but after rereading the description for smite evil I believe it would add it's damage to a channel energy attack against undead.

But only a single target, correct? I mean, I can Smite one in one turn and then use my second use on a different turn and then get the bonus damage against both of those targets with a channel?

Re: OOC

Yes, the bonus damage would apply to everyone you're currently smiting.  Since it says it modifies the roll, it would get halved with a successful save though.

Re: OOC

Because of smite not specifying attacks; smite into a wand of magic missile was a weird tech option that I saw people play around with. Probably isn't very effective, but fun to theory around.

Aia! Gorum, Puck dies of embarrassment. :P

He'll have add the satyr to the ancestral grudge list.^^

So ... Veana could, in theory, be The Holy Hand Held Grenade Of Antioch? :D

Reminds me of sillier builds for Auradins in "Diablo II".

Taliesin, magic missile smite eh? Nice, even if I prefer the "Neverwinter Nights" Missile Barrage, Missile Storm options for Magic Missile.

Btw, I remember reading about some "minor rewards if you beat an encounter" while I was skimming the game before I took over Sandy. What happened to that?

I keep asking about Trophy Thread, so I can put that Kobold Fencer Hat and Satyr Pipes into their proper places. ;)

As for the tangible rewards?

How will you take free replenishment of all consumables. Take note that ... Tome of Clear Thoughts +5 is also a consumable.

Pretty sure if you get a refund on a Tome (or anything permanent) you lose the benefits.

Re: OOC

The reward for winning a fight is that the party levels up.  If you lose, the survivors (And any new members) will remain at the level they were before the battle.

I did bring up the idea of giving characters who survived a battle and returned some sort of bonus, to encourage people to avoid suicidal tactics or switching characters too often.  I'm not sure if it's entirely fair, or if it punishes people for things that aren't necessarily their fault.  I guess we can put it to a vote:

Should I reward characters that survive battle and return? In this case, it would mean giving everyone but Taliesin and Patagogi a choice of either +1 HP/level, +1 attack, +1 to saving throws, or an extra 10% gold to spend.

I vote for extra cash. Fairiest and jujciest, in my opinion.

I don't know that I would call 10% more gold the juiciest option. It can be at higher levels for sure, but +1 to attack rolls or +1 to saves (assuming all?) can be quite nice as well. But also, I'm okay if we choose to not make a difference between characters that survive/stick around after a fight, and newcomers. I do like seeing people switch around characters if they end up getting bored and want to try something new, and not sure its fair to just penalize them--or those unlucky enough to encounter PC death--for those reasons.

Just my 2 cents! :)

Re: OOC

As long as the reward isn't compounding, the difference between a greenhorn and a veteran is only for one encounter which seems fine.

I do agree that having the option to smoothly switch avatars is better than losing a player. (See: My own rebuilding after the first fight, I'd be having less fun if I hadn't had that opportunity)

I can certainly see myself being motivated to survive by the extra carrot; but if I fail to get the carrot or if it isn't there, I'm definitely still having fun. So I'll abstain on this vote, no matter how it resolves, I win.

Re: OOC

Leveling up is enough of a reward for me. The other options are nice, but also something else to try and keep track of. Which I am not very good at.

That said, if the group decides to go with one of the rewards, I don't have a strong preference for one in particular. All are fine.

Re: OOC

So far that sounds like two against, one in favor, and one non-vote in regards to the veteran bonuses.  To be clear: the rewards would be non-compounding, meaning you don't get a higher bonus for every fight you survive.  Each person would be able to individually choose what benefit they get, as well.

About the new map: The party has already explored the first two rooms, making them effectively your starting area.  The door at G15 leads into the next unexplored room.

Re: OOC

Taliesin? We can get surprise Shadows. I remember one silly encounter where my GM was still learning that CR is bullshit. We had lvl 10 party. Shadows had a boss shadow, of course, leading from the back like a proper "Skaven".

It did not end well and TPK was hilarious. Fighter, namely my Character, barely managed to escape into sunlight. Wizard lost initiative ... and cleric was over-confident in his Turn Undead ability.

RNG feasted on Character sacrifices that day. :)

So while Graveknight is dangerous, for sure, we do have Veana. She is a tank. While in pure combat skill she lags behind a specialist slightly, she also more than makes up for that with her divine tricks against unashamedly evil foes.

BTW, my GM always forbid me using "Shadow Box" tactic for some reason. ;]

EDIT: I can cast Ashen Path to give each of us, up to 5 people, 10 minutes of the buff duration. Would wish to keep the other spell to buff with Spider Climb. So I can shot from the ceiling, standing upside down.

I would like Ashen Path if we gonna smoke this place out, yes. Hence why I reserved 200 gp for scroll of it if necessary.

Re: OOC

Between Taliesin's scroll and Puck's spell, there's enough ashen path for 8 targets.  Assuming it's spread out as much as possible, that's enough for all 6 PCs, Tal's animal companion, and either Koyrai's Pebble or Patagogi's unnamed ioun wyrd familiar.

Didn't know we had a 9th target for ashen tbh. It's just a 100g (which I don't have) to bump the scroll CL to 4 if we want both familiars to have the buff.

Re: OOC

I realized that I hadn't mentioned/thought of ceiling height until Puck cast spider climb.  The tomb's ceiling is about 10 high, meaning that climbing on the ceiling will give you the +1 height advantage to melee attacks, but most enemies on the ground can still attack you in melee.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the rules, enlarge person is still castable in that space: your growth would stop at 10' tall, but that's still enough to make you large and give you the spell's benefits.
