Re: OOC

Looks like I probably know the same information. Do I know anything different?

00:21, Today: Koyrai Dellex rolled 25,21 using 1d20+14,1d20+14.  Knowledge: Religion - grave knight and ghast.

Nope, you know the same information.

EDIT: Also, I should mention that smokesticks need to be burned in order to work.  We can retcon to say that Koyrai was holding a torch or candle or something at the beginning, since he was clearly planning to use the smokestick from the start.

Re: OOC

Boo hoo, I missed. And very cool introduction.

I think that unholy symbol will be what our NPC contact needs for proper crusade against those nobles, no?

Thanks.

Also, oops. But yeah, Koyrai has ten torches, ten candles, and flint and steel, so having a fire source ready to go shouldn't have been a problem.

Re: OOC

So question -- since walking through threatened squares will provoke an AoO from Mr. Grave Knight, would he still get such a chance if Veana is invisible? I couldn't remember whether I  just need to roll Stealth to see whether he even notices, or the fact that I'm invisible will prevent him from taking an AOO at all.

Re: OOC

There can be an opposed stealth/perception roll to pinpoint Veana, but that's largely irrelevant for AoO. Even if you know what square the enemy is, if they have total concealment you can't make an AoO against them.

Also thinking about it, I shouldn't have rolled acrobatics for Fandor. They didn't act yet therefore they are flat-footed and can't take AoO until they act.

Re: OOC

I don't believe invisible people threaten AoOs. Unless said Grave Knight could see trough invisibility, but then Gorum would tell ya that undead sees you, and Lord I-Wanna-Kill-More would certainly take a stab at you.

By the way, I probably should shoot at the Lady It's-Perfume-I-Swear. I can hit the Grave Knight only on natural 20. So that shot was wasted.

Re: OOC

Thanks for clarifying!

A follow up question, because I haven't found an official answer on this. Can a paladin smite two targets at once? Sure, it takes a swift action to smite, and the smite effects remain in place until the target is dead. However, with 2 daily uses, can I smite one target in my first round, and then smite the other in the second round without worrying about ending the earlier smite?

Re: OOC

AFAIK nothing in the text implies that a later smite would end a previous smite. You should be fine.

Re: OOC

I think it depends on how your Smite works. I admit being deliberately uninterested in Paladin mechanics, so it makes me speculate more now ... apologies if I spout gibberish.

It's Mindflayer's fault. ;)

If Smite enchances an attack? Then, at best, it would let you harm another valid target only if you have Cleave or other Multi-attack method.

By multi-attack method I mean method to attack many with single attack !

If Smite is a short buff on you? Flail away. :P

But just in case? Bag the cleric. It's stressful when Lady I-Don't-Stink uses her scroll to cast Harm on the Grave Knight whom we whittled down slowly to low HP, yanno?

That's how I'm reading it as well. It's important, because it will influence my first action.

@Puck Smite Evil gives me a buff to attack/damage and to my AC vs the target until they are dead or the following day when I regain my daily uses of the ability. But nothing in the ability says only 1 target can have smite evil active on them or not, which is why I was curious about it. But for example, it doesn't mention target limitation in the way that the Ranger's Quarry ability does, so I think as long as I have uses of it, I should hypothetically speaking be able to smite both of these baddies, but just in different rounds since it does require a swift action for me to smite them.

@Gorum -- I'm also trying to understand whether smiting someone will break my invisibility if I don't follow up with an attack? Rules around invisibility call attacks and spells that target a foe, but Smite is neither? Could I get an official ruling on this?

Based on that, I can either drink a pot, smite GK and move into position while still invisible and wait for the surprise attack next round after smiting Lady Ghast over there. Or if I become visible due to smiting, I'll have to rethink drinking the potion and just moving into position, smiting followed up by an attack on whoever I can reach of these two.

Re: OOC

The lovely couple is flat-footed currently, right? If so, Uluchi's attack would target FF Touch AC. Which looks like it would be 10.

In reply to Taliesin (msg # 413):

Ohhhh, that is true. But she also has cover to anyone on this side of the door, which is +4 AC, I was expecting to need to hit AC 19

Re: OOC

@Uluchi:  The ghast is both flat-footed and blind (-2 AC) though she does have cover from Uluchi's current position.  Which means that a 12 touch attack is exactly enough to hit her.

@Veana: Yes, you can have multiple smites active, and declaring a smite doesn't break invisibility.

So it's a conditional buff? Aim it at the Knight, it's tougher, but keep hitting the Lady.^^

Well enough, though I have bad suspicion that our dear Lord would benefit the most from being grappled to the ground by someone strong before you apply the benefits of Smite to it. :)

Re: OOC

I just realized I got the stats slightly wrong earlier.  I made a few versions of these enemies, and I used the wrong statblock at first.  Lord Olitrescu's AC, HP and saves should have been lower (Originally I put his 8 into CON, then decided that was a bit too cheesy.  After all, he wasn't always undead).  Also, the Lady's HP should have been 10 lower.  These are fixed now.

Sorry for the mixup.  Fortunately it doesn't effect the results of the last turn's actions.

Re: OOC

I think I am at 35ft away according to the map.  So I should be out of range of the blast.

Also I should be 78 hp not 73.
