While the satyr was bamboozling one of the adventurers, and escaping from the swarm, the eagle tried to claw at him but fey's skin proven invulnerable!

Someone hidden clicked his tongue in displeasure loudly.

OOC: Eagle tries to AoO vs Satyr against AC 8. It is a miss.

Re: Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

The arachnid menace disappears as expected, letting Uluchi turn her attention to the pleasing demise of the Manticore- and the less than pleasing ducking of the Satyr into a building.

With a swiftness of sashaying steps seldom displayed, she chases after the hoofed menace, snapping off a blast of piercing cold as soon as she is close enough to get a clean line of attack, coating his shoulder and right arm in rimefrost.
Move: Move 30' to I14
Standard: Cold Blast targeting Satyr

Cover Note: If I use the northeast corner of my square to draw lines, I can get a clean shot at the Satyr; the attack roll should have been at +8 with PBS, but a hit is a hit.

Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

"I think it is time we try heating things up, Pebble," commented Koyrai as he stepped closer to the bonfire. Pulling out his spellbook, the arcanist read by firelight and performed a few mental tricks that would let him memorize a new spell in place of the swarm-spewing one he currently had.

Meanwhile, Pebble continued to direct their swarm while hovering just over Koyrai's head. The swarm scurried over, under, and around the unconscious manticore and around both sides of the wall the satyr went to hide behind. Alas, the satyr's tough exterior continued to be impenetrable even as the spiders did their best to pierce the fey's defenses.

Koyrai
Free: Five foot step to O15.
Full-round: Spend 1 Arcanist Reservoir point to swap Vomit Swarm spell for Burning Gaze.

Pebble
Standard: Move swarm to G-H 16-17. Swarm still fails to harm Satyr.
Free: Five foot step to O15.

Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

Arashi hums shortly. It does make sense that the battle is won already. The manticore is down and he just watched the spider getting diced by all sides for the mistake of remaining materialized for more than a moment. "Alright." he says as he begins the trek back to the village nearby.

OOC:
MOVE: Movement to W16
STANDARD: Not taken

Arashi expects a day's worth of walking, so he won't tire himself by double-moving or running.

IMMEDIATE: If the spider either materializes or moves next to Arashi, he will stagger-proof boots to AC16

Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

A big owl quietly flew from behind of one tree and silently landed on the ruined wall above the satyr, then glared menacingly at the goat man.

Meanwhile the irate eagle pursued the satyr with indignant squawk.

OOC: Puck standard action Wildshape into Medium owl. Gain +2 Str and +2 Natural Armor bonus, lose hide-armor bonus.
Move action to G16, DC to spot 13, and sit on the ruined wall. Satyr should be stared on from above and within AoO range.

Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

Veana let out a wolfish snarl when she was struck once more by the devious spider. However, she didn't waste time and healed her wounds once more using the power of the light. Since the damn spider was nowhere to be seen again, she chose to move backwards towards her allies and closer to the satyr.

Once she was in position, she invoked the divine powers of the light again. She began to radiate brightly, as the light emanated from her, bolstering her resolve and that of her allies in the surrounding area.

"We will not be defeated," she called out to their foes. "For the power of the Light stands with us!"

OOC: SWIFT to LoH on herself for 11 HP.
MOVE to O17.
STANDARD to spend 1 use of LoH for Power of Faith.

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
Power of Faith causes a nimbus of light to emanate from the warrior of the holy light in a 30-foot radius. All allies in this area (including the warrior of the holy light) receive a +1 morale bonus to AC and on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear as long as they remain in the area of light. This power lasts for 1 minute.

09:45, Today: Veana rolled 11 using 3d6.  LoH on herself.

Re: Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

Uluchi's blast drew a scream of pain from the satyr as her magic froze his flesh.  Hurt, covered in spiders, and cornered by magic birds, the fey's bravado faltered.  With a frantic yell, it rushed through the group surrounding it, hoping to open some space between it and it's enemies with long, leaping strides of it's goat-like legs.  It dashed to the other side of the ruins, taking cover behind one of the crumbling walls.

While the desperate situation made the satyr more cautious, it seemed to drive the phase spider into more reckless aggression.  Appearing directly beside Koyrai, the beast plowed into the frail spellcaster, piercing his body with it's long, venomous fangs.  Koyrai's veins burned as the poison worked it's way into his system.  Apparently willing to abandon it's hit-and-run tactics, the massive arachnid wrapped two of it's legs around the samsaran, holding him in place while it readied a second bite.

"Sssha!"

A bestial hiss from Uluchi accompanies the heavy thwack of her gauntlet slamming into the temple of the fleeing beastman's skull. The kinetic energy isn't enough to slow down the foe and the spikes of her weapon fail to gain any purchase or draw blood.

"Zu'u fen krii hi."

Slipping into the tongue of dragons to communicate the stoked depths of her rage, Uluchi moves around the building rather than through it, hoping to get a shot at the back of the coward in a few seconds hence.

Meanwhile the arachnid clutching Koyrai gets half her attention. Unfortunately for the creature that is in the form of a thin white line connecting her outstretched palm and the center of its cephalothorax between its front and rear set of left legs. A patch of hoarfrost sprouts up on and around the spot, spreading to cover nearly half of the nearby legs.

As she watched the spider manifest and get a hold of Koyrai, Veana took as quick step towards it as she lunged with her longsword, piercing the arachnid's flesh. She attempted to take a chunk out of it with her lupine fangs as well, but the spider's carapace proved too tough.

Re: Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

Koyrai was bent over with a hand on his wounds as he pulled out of the dying phase spider's grasp. He was heavily injured and was not feeling well internally either. He could feel the poison inside. He needed to get to Arashi. Arashi was a good healer. But first...

"Pebble, I need you to burn the baddies on my behalf." The arcanist cast a quick spell on his familiar, then stumbled toward Arashi.

Pebble moved to try and get a line of sight on the satyr and use its newfound fire powers on it.

Koyrai
Standard: Cast Burning Gaze through Pebble, using one AR point to increase its level (making it last 5 rounds instead of 4).
Move: to U15
Free: talk
Other: made my save vs poison at the end of the turn. (1 of 2)

Pebble
Move: to P9
Standard: Burning Gaze at satyr, if possible. It made its save. I don't believe cover affects the effect as long as Pebble can see the satyr at least a little bit, but am not certain. If the satyr is not targetable, Pebble will target the dying phase spider instead.

09:02, Today: Koyrai Dellex rolled 22 using 1d20+4.  Satyr's DC 18 fort save vs Pebble's Burning Gaze.

09:00, Today: Koyrai Dellex rolled 24 using 1d20+6.  DC 18 save vs poison at end of turn

Re: Battle 2: The Wrath of Nature

The party rushed forwards, cutting down the phase spider before it could land the killing blow against Koyrai.  As the arcanist extricated himself from the unconscious monster's grip and stumbled after Arashi, there came the sound of rustling undergrowth from behind the wall to the west.  Hearing his last ally fall, the satyr disappeared back into the forest from which it came.

OOC: The battle is won, though there are a few concerns left to deal with.  First is Koyrai's poisoned wound.  Having made one save, there's no longer any risk of him being reduced to 0 Constitution, so he'll live as long as someone deals with his HP damage.  I'll let everyone list their actions after combat, before Koyrai makes the remaining 4 saves to see how much damage the poison does.

Second is the Satyr.  Between his 40' move speed and the party dealing with Koyrai's wound, chasing him immediately isn't feasible.  But tracking him down is.  Following his trail requires a DC 20 survival check (15 for firm ground, +5 because he's trying to hide his tracks.)  If you succeed, the four active party members corner him in his lair and he surrenders.

The big owl flew over to the staggering Kyorai and landed before him with a whish of scattered leaves, with Puck standing up from a crouch with a satchel covered in strange letters that knowledgeable people would recognize as Fey alphabet, allready pulling out small clay jars. Including glass jar with very big looking leeches.
"Witch guy, I help with poison fangs first! Iron skin wolf-girl will heal you."

The feral elf, because without a doubt he's as wild as the satyr who's probably fleeing from them, declared with his habit of not-naming people directly. Said satyr was slowly heard less and less while chased by the eagle summoned by Puck.

OOC: Puck first will do a Heal Check 30 to assist Kyorai with his poison saves. Yes it was a natural 20. RNGesus must accepted the sacrifice of spider's life. ;)

I pre-liminary rolled also Puck tracking the Satyr. Take note that he can track Satyr by scent, too. 26 is sufficient to not let the satyr escape even if Puck hampers himself and doesn't use scent tracking. Puck is safe to track down Satyr if we roll out within 6 hours.

Plus he needs to disable his traps, of course.

11:15, Today: Puck rolled 26 using 1d20+8.  survival to track Satyr.

11:15, Today: Puck rolled 30 using 1d20+10.  Heal check to assist Kyorai.

With one companion already fallen, Veana was not about to let another meet the same fate. She rushed towards Koyrai as Puck tended to the poison coursing through the Samsaran's body. She assumed her natural form once more, before uttering a brief prayer in Celestial. She then place a hand softly on Koyrai's wounds, allowing the light she emanated to travel from her fingertips towards the wounds, slowly mending some of the damage the Arcanist had suffered.

"I hope this is enough until we can get back to town," she said to Koyrai and Puck. "We should also give Koji a proper farewell." There was a hint of sadness in her voice.

OOC: Spent my last 2 uses of LoH, poor rolls though, so only 9 HP healed :(

08:59, Today: Veana rolled 6 using 3d6.  LoH on Koyrai.

Puck scrunched his nose a bit, then pulled an shovel out of his endless quiver of anything ... and handed it to Veana. Upon seeing how her healing gift working poorly by her displeased expression the wild elf offered advice. While feeding Koyrai a handful of magic berries himself.
"Witch-boy, eat berries good for you. Iron-skin wolf girl? Maybe ask Shaman Snake-Woman about proper sacrifices to appease light spirits? Maybe they unsatisfied with ya. And don't worry about the goat-leg fleeing. Spirits blessed me with his scent trail."

Elf's smirk as he transformed his nose to a similarly wolf one as Veana currently have? Positively predatory.

"I know not goodbye rituals for Fire-Blooded's spirit. Ask Shaman Snake-Woman?"
OOC: It's basically breezing on my part ~5 Goodberries for Kyorai to feel less miserable from that poisoning. Puck is willing to borrow Veana a shovel for digging a grave for Koji.

OOC:
Life link should keep Koyrai in the positives, it would outheal the poison even in the worst case.
Life link cannot down Arashi, Koyrai isn't missing that much hp. But even so, Healer's way should keep Arashi topped.
Spamming Lesser Restoration (3 round casting time) on Koyrai to out heal the con damage. Might not match the speed, but I don't think it can kill now. After the poison is done, even more lesser restorations to undo the damage done. (I have 4 slots left)

Golden eyes cut to Arashi as he continues to move and she heads his way instead of joining the group fussing over Koyrai.

"The satyr's magic will take time to fade, worry not. I'll accompany you until it does."

To Veana as she passes her by, "If you bury him here, please mark the spot so I can return to it."

Uluchi follows Arashi as the healer makes the slow trek back towards civilization.  He doesn't completely shake the enchantment off until nightfall, with the ruined shrine far behind them.

Meanwhile, Puck, Koyrai, and Veana take up the trail of the escaped satyr.  Despite the fey's efforts to cover his tracks, the trio eventually tracks him down to a hiding place in a nearby cave.  Cornered and defeated, he raises his hands in surrender.

"Bah!  Fine then.  Let them rebuild their temple, and open the way to more of your wretched kind.  At least I don't have to live to see the day your people come with axes and turn my sacred woods into carts and tables."

Koyrai stood just behind Puck to back the hunter up if the satyr decided to try something funny. He stood with his cold-iron dagger held threateningly in one hand, and his other hand ready to bestow Burning Gaze upon Pebble in a moment's notice. It would be his last non-cantrip spell for the day, but the satyr didn't need to know that.

The arcanist waited with interest to see how the satyr would handle Puck's proposition.
