Re: OOC Thread

The National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi) were founded in 1921. I'm sure there were people sharing the ideals that lead to the Nazi party (on both sides), but in WWI it wasn't really a "thing".

Re: OOC Thread

It is true that the Nazi Party was founded in 1921. During WW1, as you say, there were no Nazis, though there were ultra-nationalist groups such as the Pan-German League and the German Reform Party (previously more bluntly named the Antisemitic Party). I made Braun flee Germany to escape the Freikorps, German veterans' rightwing paramilitary groups, who failed to seize power in the Kapp Putsch.

Re: OOC Thread

Just so long as he doesn't have ties to the American industrialist groups that were fueling intrigue about the world for economic gain things should be alright. Otherwise all bets are off.

In reply to Pranit Singh Dhillon (msg # 72):

No, he is employed University of California, Berkeley, which was a center of Indian nationalism in previous decades (the Gadarite movement). Some of its leaders cooperated with Germany in World War 1, so he as a German patriot (though not rabid Nazi) is sympathetic to their movement. I suspect he may have studied Punjabi and Sanskrit with one of their more scholarly leaders,

Re: OOC Thread

I'll probably be wrapping up Scene 1 thread, and most likely will move ahead to the Saturday afternoon meeting with the Professor, unless anyone has particular plans that they might want to do before this meeting.

Re: OOC Thread

Archie doesn't particularly care about seeing the professor, but would attend that meeting if there are no alternative plans.

He's broke and not going to strike out on his own with any free time, but would gladly lend a hand with anything he might be the slightest bit more helpful with than a university meeting.

Same could be said of Jenny. Maybe we could go somewhere fun in town? She's paying Archie.

Re: OOC Thread

Jennifer is perhaps a bit overwhelming, a bit intimidating, a bit… How shall one say? A bit too much of herself, perhaps.

Francoise is the daughter of a captain, granddaughter of a major, widowed fiancĂ©e of a lieutenant. But she herself has no rank, no position, only a middling education —from a Peruvian college, my deary— and a bit of srtistic talent. She has seen firsthand the horror of war. The War. Yet still she is something of une souris des champs, a country mouse, n'est pas? She lives among bohemians and radicals and is something of the sort herself.

This doesn't mean they can't become friends over the course of the expedition, just that they are not now.

Gotcha. Jenny is a British renegade, so she revels in American 'spontaneousness' and likes to affect an exaggerated informality. Also a bit like this:

Another interestingly gruesome site near our present base in Lima, though much more recent than the one we plan to explore.

Deep under the weather. Got cough, headache, body aches, sneezing and coughing, great fatigue, and fever spiking 101f. Got a COVID test this morning. Seems a good chance I got it. Will post as I can.
