The minimum anyone has been suggesting is 2.

Being a preexisting Troup it would suggest we were forced together out of necessity or perhaps just decided to take a chance on the others, to make a name for ourselves, when we were level 1.

Had success against monsters or perhaps a mission together and so we are still together but it may not have been for very long yet.

I've got to update my description...

Ok, ya wasn't trying to be annoying about it, but it seems we still don't have an exact level. I was trying to start a conversation as to which level we wanted to start at, I am hoping to have some time this weekend to sit down and create my character and that's a big piece.

I mean, I am building my character at 2nd for now. I think lower is better particularly while we kind of build the world a bit.

Also (it was mentioned before) isn't there an aegyle race (or something like that) that are already winged people? I've never actually played a game where character longevity was a valid concern. They should probably just be renamed Winglies for this setting.

In reply to Mazerson (msg # 61):

There is a character creation thread where I've been putting the stuff that I think we've agreed upon.   And yes, level 2.

Campaign Discussion...Setup

Just some setting things I was kicking around. Feel free to like/dislike/add stuff/throw out.

Speculation: The reappearance of the Divine Tree at the end of what would eventually become known as the Second Dragoon Campaign brought not only new species but the resurgence of magic.   It would be Cid the First, also known as Cid the Great (the Eldest Son of the Dragoon Albert, King of Serdio and Princess Emille of Tiberoa) who figured out how to build airships.  Additional technological advances, often combined with a magical element; followed shortly thereafter.

End of the Second Dragon War.

Alliance of Serdio and Tiberoa/marriage of Albert and Emille.

Birth of Cid the first

Rebirth of the Divine Tree

Burmecians emerge and take refuge in the root network of the Divine Tree, before spreading out into the rest of the world.

Cid the first invents the first airship.

Encounters with new races for the first time. Some peaceful, some not.

Using his airship, Cid confirms the rebirth of the Divine Tree.

The border wars. A period of time where the new races clash against the established civilisations, mostly the Hume. In an effort to end the wars, Cid the first accelerates the production of his airships.

The border wars ends. Airship years begin.

The use of airships bring several years of diplomacy and trade.

Cid the first retires and Cid the second, the insatiable, takes the throne.

Ever increasing tariffs and taxations against other nations lwead to a series of airship 'accidents'.

Not long after competing airlines arise.

The sky wars begin. When these encroach on winglie airspace, the isolationist race respond with their magic.

The wars continue, and the winglies ally themselves with ??? Producing the first magitech engine. The new technology brings the sky wars to an end.

Adding my own touches here...

The first Au Ra appeared, they claim to be descendants of dragon worshipers or dragoons, depending on who you ask, but it is far more likely that they are a new species birthed from the fruit of the Divine Tree.  Either way there may be some truth to their draconic heritage given their appearance.

The wars continue, and the winglies ally themselves with ??? Producing the first magitech engine. The new technology brings the sky wars to an end.

The magitech engine did much to revolutionize the world as they could provide power for almost anything one could want.  They remained largely cost prohibitive for most purposes and it was only recently that Serdio made significant advances in miniaturization.  Serdio produced the first magitech engine that was small enough to fit in a wagon and this was quickly adapted to experiment on military technologies.

*roughly a year to 6 mo before game starts*
Serdio produced the first suit of magitech armor.  While expensive and difficult to produce the armor may soon revolutionize warfare.  The armor is difficult to pilot and there are only a few that can manage it at this time.  One of the most well known test pilots is the Au Ra Mina known not so much for her skills (as she is still a novice pilot) but far more for her looks and winning personality making her a bit of an idol to soldiers around the continent.

Campaign Start
Mina was part of the recent, ill fated attack that left Serdio's forces shattered and demoralized and it is unknown if she survived leading to the demoralization of many soldiers on both sides of the fighting.

Couldn't help that last bit, feel free to modify as needed.

Looks good to me.

I'm almost done, trying to decide whether or not to pick up a partially charged Cure wand.  Definitely going gunner White Mage as my variant multiclass; that Auto-Regen is too good to pass up.

I really have no clue what to run with now. Or rather, I have too many options.

My choices have changed so many times I might just have to roll a dice on it...

Time Bandit then.
I know it's based on sands of time prince of Persia. But I can work with this. Not sure whether to variant or not.

I'm not even sure how variant multiclass works. Do you still gain all the skills hp and base feats or just the limited selection of abilities given?

My reading of it was that you just gain the abilities listed in lieu of feats at the levels prescribed. Otherwise your class plays like the base class.

Hmm.. could be. My reading of it is, you ONLY get the abilities listed at the levels listed in place of feats. It says expressly that you don't gain levels in the secondary class, so you don't gain any benefits linked to level progression. HP, Proficiencies, skills, spells.. anything related to level. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

That's my reading as well.   I'll go ahead and get the game thread up (in a day or so), unless someone wants to wait a bit.   I'm not expecting combat just yet, so there's time to finish up while we get into character.

I have all the notes to fill out the sheet from in my scratchpad. It will take a while to get all of it transferred over.

I also see 3 likely options for Paya(the Zuu animal companion), a 2nd sheet, an extension of Veldmont's sheet, or a thread to keep track. Not sure how you want to do it though.

Is there a way for everyone to see everyone else's character sheets? I ask for two reasons, I would love some feedback on my sheet to make sure I haven't missed something. Also because if we are all going to end up being storytellers then we'll eventually need to see anyways.

Also, I am having a hard time figuring out how to spend my Gil. We said that we get 1k, but that basic equipment is covered. I am assuming however masterwork equipment wouldn't be?

Also, given I don't wear armor, and I don't use weapons (in melee, I will pick up something for ranged), not sure what else I should think about buying for a Monk (I haven't played one before) or if I should just wait and save up for something like a belt of physical perfection. Thoughts?

I can create a thread in group one that everyone can post and update at will.  That's probably the easiest way that jumps to mind.
