Vika Voracious:
I feel like in this case the improper address looks like an oversight on the part of Ophelia's player trying to catch up on A LOT, when I think the character intended to address politely rather than offensively. As a player who knows the feeling of being overwhelmed by big threads and not being a lore expert, I feel like Ophelia deserves to be cut a bit of slack for missing a detail like that under the circumstances :P
(Sorry for spamming this thread! I feel like it's worth addressing)
Since I can't convey tone over text, OOC
I considered the same as a possibility! I figured the hook was fun to play with what is canonically a
very minor slight. No Frenzy check was rolled on my end, but I'm also telegraphing the danger that one might be called which is ultimately out of my hands.
There's plenty of room and time for RP, and OOC I'd definitely take "I'm a scared, strange vampire in a dangerous setting with no immediate allies" with a grain of salt over how the character is going to act in other situations/scenarios when he's established and acclimated.
I find the consistent whoopsie with the Invictus title system with the stack of the character's backstory problems fun for characterization (and also OOC humorous). If anything Unaligned and Carthians would bump into some confusion on why it's important/how the code works because it's
supposed to be steeped in meaning and requires schooling/training for etiquette. If players DO want their PC extensively tied to other Covenants in their backstory, I'd recommend talking to the ST about Occult/Politics Specializations to reflect that, and also brush up on OOC lore to prevent confusion on their end. IC mistakes can be brushed up to anywhere from Fog of Ages or "I'm nervous and forgot in the moment", like people, characters make mistakes sometimes and that can create different stories and more dynamic interaction.
Vampires in Requiem have a lot of feels and paranoia that doesn't logically align with what a reasonable human being would have. That being said, I understand a human being is on the other end of the fictional character they are depicting! Hopefully my edgy/horror choices in narrative isn't discouraging?
