Re: OOC Thread

I like the Orc/Orca mythology! Fairly unique and intriguing as the world's "ancient culture."

Well it's a good thing you voted for it, because the one vote you gave it was just enough to put it over the top into canon.

Trait Stones: 10
Star Steel: 6
Belt and Scabbard of Thunderbolt: 5

Any further discussion needed before we move on to Round 6?

And what I mean by that is: either discuss something or else give me a "nah GM let's move on"

Nah, move on. The items all seem self-explanatory how they fit the world.

Unless we wanted to talk some about them Orcs?

Nah, let's move on.

Re: OOC Thread

Can I just point out the Advisors stone could very well just be A Trait stone with The First King's memory inside it?

We can actually incorporate it into the Trait Stone example...

Edit: Sorry the Advisor's memory inside it. Ah well someone already responded.

Hmm, I do like that idea better. And it sure incorporates that story of it being in the hands of the Cagers. I'm all for that idea.

Honestly, I agree.

As for orcs, yeah. I still don't know what killed off all the orcs (if anything-- if they didn't just intermarry with humans until all we had were half-orcs), but half-orcs are big tough humans who swim very well. And being able to hold one's breath for much longer than a normal human is always handy in subterranean mine tunnels when you can never be sure when you might run into a pocket of bad air...

Re: OOC Thread

Having said that, I'm opening Round Six: Classes.

--Each player will describe one character class that exists in the fantasy world. Each class can be common (hedge witch? knight of mystery?) or rare (hedge witch? knight of mystery?)

--DO NOT SUGGEST THINGS THAT ARE EXACTLY LIKE A CLASS THAT ALREADY EXISTS IN D&D/PATHFINDER/ANYWHERE ELSE.

COnsidering the many clases appeared i nvarious games (e.g. rolemaster, with its companions, has lots of  them), this wil lbe particulary challenging this time...

Re: OOC Thread

Im going to be honest. I'll need to check my class ideas to ensure it doesn't exist, given how many classes do exist just in dnd and pathfinder. And don't forget the homebrew.

I will say:

1. Just do your best.

2. It seems to me that one sure way would be to tie the new class to the canon world somehow//as much as possible.

3. Look, as my examples tried to suggest: if it's some kind of thief, knight, mage, cleric, whatever-- some resonance with a fantasy class someone's already thought of is surely going to be almost impossible. Just don't make it exactly like something found somewhere else. Do your best to put some sort of unique spin on it.

Don't look at me-- ONE of you just posted last night...!

Anyway, yeah, I'll officially post all the results for voting today... probably this morning.

ROUND SIX: CLASSES is up.

To help avoid the need for tiebreaking, give 3 points to one entry, and then 2 to another, and then 1 to another. (It may not succeed in avoiding a tie, but at least it seems fair.)

PM me your votes.

Do NOT vote for your own submission at all.

Welp, we did our best... haha.

Was any place in canon established to have gladiatorial combat of any type?

Also, what are dwarves?

Yes there was, Hapids we're established to be gladiators. I suspect they built off that.

Dwarves are walrus-folk of course. I mean obviously, it's in the name. They live in cold environments, eat a bunch of fish and have a love in making fruit juice.

...I don't get it.

...I'm not even sure I see how it's "in the name," really.

Re: OOC Thread

Annnnyway...

Final results are in for the CLASSES round:

Spirit Shaman: 9
Stormriders: 8
Hapid Gladiator: 6

Interesting results... a mage/cleric class (or is it a cleric/mage class? Probably), a ranger/druid class, and a fighter/magey/roguey class. Or so it seems to me.

Welp, do we need to discuss anything before I officially declare that we're moving on to the final round...?

Re: OOC Thread

Just picking nits, but if Hapids are the only culture that seems to use gladiators... wouldn't that make the hapid gladiator the standard rather than an outlier? Also, based on the description, are hapid gladiators all men? Since only the males are rabbits and it mentions high jumps as part of the style. Or would there be divergent styles for males and females and even a neutral style?

Fine with the other two. Stormriders read as wizard/cleric combo, yeah. Divination focus? Somewhat shamanistic.

It's telling how much we all think in D&D classes.

Other than that, fine to move on.
