It has been brought to my attention I have not been clear enough on the state of the setting in game so I will clarify here.

The game takes place, at the start at least, in the Dustbowl. The remains of a city in the north west part of the United States. The city is surrounded by mountains and desert. There is only one road in/out. The local warlord that owns this part of the country is Wilson Fisk (aka the Kingpin).


* How much do super villains hunt down wannabee heroes? (are we talking Mutants in the future like in the XMen movies, or just 'if we see one we'll go for it)

So for the past 50 years there have been NO powers/mutants/entities/aliens/magic/etc. So any powers manifesting would only have happened in the past 3 months. If the villains get a whiff that a new super has appeared, they will not hesitate to destroy the whole town the hero was seen in (They have nukes) if need be. They are very extreme with this.

* What's the tech level like? Now? Futuristic? Steam punk?

This is near future/semi apocalyptic. "No" internet, limited electricity (mostly through generators), etc. The world has been in a state of decay over the past half-century. No grocery stores/malls so people are more focused on survival than MTV.

* How much are cameras/mobile phones etc a part of people's lives?

cellphones are pretty rare as it is so expensive to charge them/keep them charged. It's not worth it to most people. There are security cams owned by the Gov't however...

* Are we expected to start at 18? I think we like the idea of being young teenagers (we'd thus not get into any adult stuff, although we might/will have romance)

You can be any age you like, but keep in mind this is a mature dark game. Murder is commonplace and criminals will not hesitate at hurting children. If this idea bothers you, don't play a child.

* Do the police function? I.e. is it as bad or worse as the USA in the current world, or as good as Japan?

Great question! The answer is: Kind of. There is a corrupted police controlled by the Gov't (military police) they are owned by the villains. There are private militia which tend to be owned by gangs/ mafia (i.e. Kingpin). And finally there are old west style sheriffs that protect towns who may or may not be corrupt.

* What's happening with organized crime

See above. They are happy and healthy. :)
