You follow the note to the second floor and into room two. Lounged back on the bed reading a book is a half-elf with faintly green skin and hair that looks a bit unkempt and decorated with tiny flower buds. She looks up at your group with a pleasant smile and sits upright, placing the book beside her. "Excellent! I presume you're all here for the job? More heads, better results, right?"

Welcome, Little Light. 'The more they married', as my friend here — err, I've just realized I haven't written your name down — anyway, that's what my Githyanki friend here says.

He leads the charge up the stairs and knocks on door number two.



Yes, that's right! And you must be Agama? He opens his book to resume note-taking.This information quest you wrote about sounds most fascinating.

"Apologies, my name is Yommah." she introduces herself, then looks back to their employer,"Indeed, what is it you wish for us to do?"

"I am Little Light, and I do like your flowers!" the tabaxi says by way of introduction. "What kind are they?"

The half-elf stands, "I am Agama, yes. I'm happy you're interested. And, seeing as you seem ready to get it underway and that I have no place for you to sit, I'll cut to the task at hand.

"There's a shipping business in the Warehouse District, Windwake Shipping, who coordinates with ships to move wares and goods to and from other coastal cities. The owner, whose name I won't divulge, believes some of his employees are selling Korian from that same warehouse. As you know, Korian is a dangerous and illegal substance due to it causing random episodes of violence and madness.

"So far, the owner has been unable to confirm any of this and thus has not been able to act. So what we require from you at the very least is to confirm his suspicions. Any questions so far?"

"Substance, ah, drugs, is that what you mean. I believe I am aware of such substances called Korian, yes." Yommah says, but won't divulge that her pirating business somewhat involves in such trade matters,"However, I'm not quite acutely aware in its symptoms, apart from madness and violence, what other side effects are involved. Information like that might be useful, I think."

"Yes, drugs. And as you know with Korian, most of the time it doesn't have any ill affect to anyone but the user. Most of the time, it grants the user increased capabilities in water including greater strength and the ability to breathe while underwater, with only a minor headache being the side effect. Sometimes, however, those abilities rob the user of being able to breathe air normally. Small sacrifice for those on the sea. But, other times bring madness and increased aggressive behaviors.

"When stricken by what's being called Korian Madness, one will begin speaking unintelligibly, their personality will suddenly shift, they will be quick to anger for little or no reason, attacking whatever or whomever is near, and seem to perspire more heavily. If both of the ill effects occur simultaneously - the Madness and the inability to breathe air - they are rarely seen again.

"If it were only the benefits with the headache or even the inability to breathe air, I doubt there would be much opposition against the drug as any consequences are only to the user. But the madness is to such an extent that if it occurs, it causes much detriment and harm to others."

Stalsii raised their hand, "excuse me ma'am.  What form does this drug usually take? white powder, green resin, etc.  Also, how is it taken? Is there paraphernalia that we could recognize?"

"No need for such formalities as "ma'am," Agama would do just fine." Agama says with a chuckle.

"It's typically a clear crystal, small and very thin. It dissolves quickly so it can be dropped in a drink or even simply eaten. And no special items are needed to take it, though I suppose some creative types may experiment. Anything's possible, after all."

Baelen steps up to ask a question. "Any sense on why the owner believes this to be true? Suspicious behavior? Or residue of any sort left behind? Were there any particular persons of interest?"

Agama shakes her head, "All he indicated was due to the types and number of non-workers visiting the warehouse. A number of skulky types, his word not mine, have gone in and out. His business should really only deal with businesses and captains and the like, respectable folk as he said. He never gave any name or person in particular, just a sense of suspicion. He did say he tried to find out himself but couldn't find anything suspicious in his books and the manager denied anything of the sort occurring."

Zaphkiel writes furiously to keep up with all the new information. He then sets the quill in the binding of his book and references his notes as he addresses the group.

It seems to me our most advantageous plan of attack would be thus:

One: We should confirm that there are, in fact, users of this Korian substance in the Warehouse District. If we find a user we have a two-pronged approach: we can follow the user to see if he buys more at the docks, or we can confront him and see if we can pry out of him whence and from whom he acquired his illicit goods. If we find multiple users, perhaps both tactics would be appropriate.

Two: concurrently, or perhaps consequently, we reconnoiter the warehouse to confirm our benefactor's suspicions that there are –quote– 'skulky types' entering the establishment and leaving again in short order. I volunteer for this portion of the plan, as my expertise lies more in objective observation than direct inquiry.

Three: Should both previous steps fail, we can be reasonably certain that the warehouse is not being used to distribute narcotics. However, if either or both of the previous steps are successful, we can be reasonably certain that the business, is, in fact, working as a front for drug smuggling. In which case, we can take the information learned from steps one and two to disguise one of ourselves as a 'skulky type' and attempt to purchase said drug. Should we be successful, we can report back that our benefactor's suspicions are correct. Our evidence will be the drug we were able to acquire along with our sworn testimony.

The eladrin nods, swiping stray silvery white hairs from his face. "That sounds like a reasonable plan. We will have to keep in mind that dealing with those on the drug may prove to be dangerous. We will have to be prepared for confrontation." He tilts his head and asks a follow up question to Agama, "So, what exactly do we do if we are able to prove this is happening? Do we get the authorities involved? Or is that on him to do?" Baelen asks.

Yommah shrugs as Baelen asked his question,"The poster said to investigate, you would think they would have wanted the authorities. Instead, she opted for mercenaries. Obviously, this is a private matter. All we need to do is investigate and report." she says in a black way of saying it,"... However, if we're ever caught, we have no choice but to fight. For our safety, of course."

"Then we'd best make sure that we don't get caught, yes? Hard enough with managing awkward questions if that happens, let alone anything worse," Little Light adds.

"How do we want to approach? Do we watch the doors? Does anyone feel like pretending to be a dock worker? And what does korian look like when it's not being used?"
