Trimming the Hedges

Following Mag's directions, you make your way out of Predator's Cove and into Lydan proper. You enter the District of Nine, seeing the various temples and shrines to the Prim Novem and the variations of their worship. Acolytes profess the dogmas of their deity, priests and priestesses offer services from healing, to food, to death and all between. But it takes only a few minutes until you pass through the gateway to the Market district.

The markets is bustling with stalls and shops and the people tending to their day and seeking deals. Not far beyond the wall into the Market you're pretty sure you spot a few that were just in the Predator's Cove not long before. They seem to be in the midst of some quiet discussion as they gesture this way and that. They either don't recognize or don't notice you as you continue past them and all the mongers hawking their wares. Twice as long as the previous district, it takes a bit longer to cross.

You pass another stone wall, leaving the Market and entering Teamster's Point. Inns and rowhouses are all over. Some sport lively music within while others appeal to the more reserved. Some nicer houses are mixed in a bit off the road with only a few shops here and there.

Trimming the Hedges

It was always interesting to travel from one district to the next in any city. Elias always found it somewhat telling by how integrated or separated they seemed to be. He lingered perhaps just a bit longer than he should have in the market district before passing through and moving on to Teamster's Point. Curious if he could find his own way, he looked for evidence of either current or prepared construction. Even if he found it, he would still make a point to make an appearance in the shops. No sense letting a friendly encounter go to waste. He only hoped he would make a good impression in case he needed to come back to them later.

"Excuse me." Elias spoke to whom he hoped was the shop owner as he entered. "Would you happen to know someone named Fendrel? He's asking for help clearing some wild growth to expand the wall and I was hoping to get at least a general description so I can approach the right person once I get there."

Both attempts to find where he needed to go and the person he needed to locate through signs, landmarks, and then speaking directly to shop owners.

Trimming the Hedges

As you both near the western wall of Teamster's Point, you can see stacks of stone and sacks just inside the gate nest to the wall. Finding a nearby shop called The Wright Wheel, Elias enters. The shopkeeper, an auborn-bearded mountain dwarf, is working to remove a broken spoke of a wagon wheel. Around the shop are a few other wheels among harnesses, leads, canvases, and other assorted wagon-related items. He looks up at you and steps away from the wheel to greet you.

When Elias asks, the dwarf gives a shake of his head, "I can't say I know anyone by that name. But I know the expansions going to start looping in that area. I think I did hear about some issues they're having with stone mold. But what area hasn't had that trouble. If it's bad enough they're calling in help, must be a pretty rough patch of it.

"As for your guy, he's probably the one that'll be calling out orders. Them's usually the one's in charge."

Trimming the Hedges

The ranger had left the inn sort of preoccupied, considering the various supplies she should bring back to Devron, not noticing Elias leaving directly in front of her. Eventually she noticed the young man crossing her path again and again. Unsure of what it meant she followed him, although it actually meant she was going to her own destination. Not being very good with people, the elf waited outside the waynewright's until the young half-elf showed up again.

"Well, I suppose that would make sense, now wouldn't it?" Elias laughed at the obviousness of the answer. "Thank you, friend." And with that, he turned to head back on his way.

Once outside, Elias couldn't help but notice the sun elf standing there with the look of one who wasn't entirely sure where she needed to be. "Well, hello there. My apologies if I'm mistaken, but you look like you might be looking for something or someone. I don't know how much help I would be, but I could certainly try."

Feeling as if she had been called with her hand in the proverbial cookie jar, the elf blushed a little. "I uh..." she said, stumbling for words. "I was going to Teamsters' Point and I think you are going the same way." Lauranthalasa said hesitatingly.

"Oh, so you have been following me, eh?" Elias raised an eyebrow for a moment in playful suspicion. He let the moment hang for just a moment before continuing with a bit of laughter. "Well then we're both in trouble because I'm having about as much luck finding out exactly where to go as a sailor with no stars. If you're here about the job, I imagine it will be easy enough to spot once we get there."

Elias moved on past the half-elf and waved for her to join him. "I would much prefer you traveled with me rather than follow. I welcome the company. " It took a moment before he realized he had not officially introduced himself. "Name's Elias Reiner, by the way."

"Uh..." the elf let out being accused of following Elias, which had her wonder if you were really 'following' somebody who has the same way or if you were just 'walking behind'. When the man laughed Lauranthalasa relaxed a little, good she hadn't done anything bad, it seemed. "Yes, clearing some of the space they need for the extension of the wall." she confirmed, a small smile on her lips.

Bowing lightly when Reiner introduced himself, she returned the favor "Lauranthalasa, pleased to meet you Elias Reiner. And I agree, lets go and find the place side by side." moving ahead a couple of steps she looked back and made an inviting gesture "You comming?"

Trimming the Hedges

You both move a little further west and out of the last wall. Several more stacks of stones are spread out in a somewhat circular pattern while a much larger pile of stone is amassed in the field to the south. Outside the wall, along the road, there are a handful of other inns, taverns, and shops with some nondescript buildings beyond.

A few wagons are moving back and forth between the large mass of stones and the smaller piles, laborers distributing them out. Just off the road beyond the last building is a half-giant with a kindly face and a chin-curtain beard. He's dressed like a farmer with a set of glasses resting on his nose as he looks over a map of the corner of the city covered with notes and sketches.
