Bandits!

Among the bandits and their bedrolls in the room to the east, Stalsii finds several pouches of copper and silver coins and a slew of armor and weapons used by each. The captain also had a key stuffed in his pocket. Rae has only a few coins but an array of gear common to adventurers.

Bandits:
  • 117 cp, 38 sp
  • Falchion (Longsword)
  • Greatclub
  • Sickle
  • Lt. Crossbow, 7 Bolts
  • Flammenschwert (Greatsword)
  • Saber (Longsword)
  • Pernach (Mace)
  • Dagger
  • Bar Mace (Mace)
  • Studded Leather Armor
  • Leather Armor (5)
  • Hide Armor
  • Dice, Knucklebones, & a wooden carving of a moose
Rae:
  • 5 sp
  • Dagger (2)
  • Quarterstaff
  • Backpack
  • Component Pouch
  • Crowbar
  • Hammer
  • Piton (10)
  • Rations (10)
  • Hempen Rope (50')
  • Waterskin
  • Amulet (Dragon Head Profile)
  • Holy Water (flask)
  • Manacles
  • Steel Mirror
  • Torch (3)
  • Wooden Stake (9)
As for the weapons, the names are mainly fluff with the actual type in (parenthesis). No mechanical differences, I've just never been a fan of all use the same thing in the world.

Bandits!

Keishara looks at the group. "Take what you want of your friend...i suggest we take her out and create a pyre. Not only is it respectful, but if infected, it will purge your friend of the curse."

She let the group take what they needed, only taking a few rations to restock what she used on the trip. She frowned as she held up the crossbow. "Crude." She muttered, and placed it down again. She looked at Rae's equipment and looked at them. "Would you mind?"

She takes one of her daggers, and making a small cut on her hand, uses a finger to trace an elven symbol for peace. "I never met you, but i promise i will find the evil that done this, and your blade will rest where it will be destroyed."

She cleaned off the blood and sheathed the dagger with a frown.

Stalsii counted out the coins 39 cp, and 14 sp to Lindra and Evgenis, then they split the rations two each, and two left over which they gave to Lindra and Evgenis. "I think we should take what we can use and sell the rest. I'd like the studded leather, and a few crossbow bolts to replenish mine.  The amulet could be a holy symbol. Rae seemed connected to the dragon god, but I'm no expert on dragon holy symbols."

Did we have time to explore while we were looting? Is there much to explore? or should we just move on?

"I am unable to carry much more gear myself, though I can help lift Rae out of here for a pyre," Lindra casts her eyes to the unexplored doors, "though perhaps we had best check everything is clear down here before we get to work on that."

She touches the amulet with her fingers, running the tips over the shape of the dragon's profile as she considers the symbol.

OOC: Is Lindra able to recognise the symbol? Religion roll if required:
15:37, Today: Lindra Naril rolled 8 using 1d20+3 with rolls of 5.  Religion - Amulet.

Keishara looked at Lindra and nodded at her wisdom. "You don't want someone sneaking up on you down here - you'll never be seen again. I suggest we check the area before we leave. Your friend will be safe, and if infected, will not be effected for a time anyway."

She begins looking around the area, bow in hand

"right, we'll check out the area to make sure there are no more enemies," they said, but they thought, and maybe some more loot.  They helped with the search.

Bandits!

Lindra, you don't recognize the amulet in detail, but you do remember Rae speaking of Bahamut, a draconic power. And based on what you've heard from her, you believe Bahamut to be within Yunir's domain.

Searching the place, you find a room of six other sarcophagi where the bandits seemed to have used for sleeping. Behind the sarcophagus of the emerald dragonborn there is a lectern with an old tome sitting open atop it. Most of the lettering is foreign to all of you but there are some portions that seem written in other languages, including common. Using the key found on the captain, you make your way through the locked door and down a short hall to where they seem to have stored their loot. Sacks of goods, random items and trinkets taken on their raids and a number of sacks and small chests of coins.

Coins: 2005CP, 330SP, 82GP
Gems: Azurite, Small Quartz, Small Carnelian, Obsidian, Rhodochrosite
Objects: Small Gold Bracelet, Black Velvet Mask Stitched with Silver, 2x Silver Ewer, Small Mirror Set in a Painted Wooden Frame, Embroidered Silk Handkerchief, Copper Chalice with Silver Filigree

4 lbs of flour
2 lbs of salt
12 lbs of silver trade bars
a number of backpacks filled with clothes
A handful of daggers, boot knives, and a few hand axes and shortswords
A shortbow and empty quiver
Several pairs of boots

[Private to GM:

Trinkets:
A glass jar containing a weird bit of flesh floating in pickling fluid
A unbreakable sealed jar of glowing water that hums when shaken
An obsidian icon of a forgotten deity
A club made out of a twisted ogres thigh bone
A set of comfortable house sleepers that keep the wearers feet at an ideal temperature

Book is an +1 Arcane Grimoire but meant for a cleric. Shadow domain, Povides spell Augury 1/week.
While you are holding this black leather-bound book, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your cleric spells, and you gain a bonus to spell attack rolls and to the saving throw DCs of your wizard spells. The bonus is determined by the book’s rarity.

Bandits!

Stalsii divided the silver and gold giving 110 sp, and 27 gp to Lindra and Evgenis. "I don't know if we want to count up all that copper," they said. Then they separated the items they thought were the most valuable.  "these should get us some good coin for the weight of carrying them back. I say we sell these unless someone can use something." They laid out the other items. "I can use a few more sets of clothes, If there's anything here you can use, I say take it. Does that sound good to everyone?"

Items gathered for sale
Gems: Azurite, Small Quartz, Small Carnelian, Obsidian, Rhodochrosite

Objects: Small Gold Bracelet, Black Velvet Mask Stitched with Silver, 2x Silver Ewer, Small Mirror Set in a Painted Wooden Frame, Embroidered Silk Handkerchief, Copper Chalice with Silver Filigre

Other gear: Component Pouch, Holy Water (flask), Steel Mirror

12 lbs of silver trade bars

Weapons: shortswords, A shortbow and empty quiver, Falchion (Longsword), Lt. Crossbow, Flammenschwert (Greatsword), Saber (Longsword)

Items laid aside
Coin: 2005CP

Objects: 4 lbs of flour, 2 lbs of salt, a number of backpacks filled with clothes, Several pairs of boots, Dice, Knucklebones, a wooden carving of a moose, Crowbar, Hammer, Piton (10), Hempen Rope (50'), Waterskin ,Manacles, Torch (3), Wooden Stake (9)

Weapons: A handful of daggers, boot knives, and a few hand axes, Greatclub, Sickle, Pernach (Mace), Bar Mace (Mace), Quarterstaff,

Armor: Leather Armor (5), Hide Armor

Stalsii took:
Studded leather armor, and a couple sets of clothes from the backpacks, coins 39 cp, 125 sp, 28 gp.

PS. I lumped the multiple items, daggers, backbacks, together

PPS. I'm not sure how heavy copper coins are. They should be about half as heavy as gold coins.

"That all sounds fine," Lindra responds, somewhat uncomfortable with the whole looting thing.

"Let us make haste back to the road, perhaps those centaurs might recover some of their belongings then we can be back to Lydan before nightfall."

OOC: Sorry, I feel I fell of the face of the earth there.
I'm happy to go with Stalsii's offered solution regarding what to take for sale and what to place aside, we could always return with a wagon at some stage or the centaurs might aid us.

Keishara watched as the loot was divided up, her bow ready she watched over the people, hoping the enemy would not return, but ready should they. "Haste would be good....I'd rather the open road -  this closed in space is too good for an ambush."

After splitting the loot and deciding what to leave, you all climb the stairs to return topside. The shadows stretch as the sun is low on the horizon. You can already see torches on moving along the distant road showing travelers as they move like dots of light. The night presses heavy on the darkening horizon where the moon is just beginning to peek.

All coins types are 0.02 lbs each (50 coins is 1 lb)

Stalsii assumed that any place that has a vampire in it is unholy ground, and they weren't going to leave any corpses there. They would give Rae a proper funeral, probably making a caern out of rubble. The bandits were left for the crows. "I think we've done all the damage we can do here. Lets go home."

I'm assuming that the escaped bandit freed the tied up bandit outside. It makes rapping things up easier.

"Alright then," Lindra says, dubiously looking to the horizon where the night has begun to encroach. With the bandits dispatched there was surely nothing left to be wary of on the road back to Lydan.

Works for me.

Correct. Both bandits are gone.

Are you all camping here/nearby or trying to make the half-day journey back to Lydan in the night?

You all return to the road and find the centaurian family gone, likely already moved along towards their destination. In the darkening landscape, Lydan glows like a beacon in the distance. The trek on the road isn't difficult and seeing the torches and lanterns of the city grow closer and brighter seems to make the journey quick. By the time you make it, you all feel some level of exhaustion after following the day's events, but you know the warm safety of the beds will wash the weariness away like soil in a river.

You make it back with 1 level of exhaustion but no trouble on the way.

Keishara was well used to hard travel, though this time pushed even her limits. When they reached town, she was dirty, sore of foot and ready for rest.

She followed the others to the inn, and when getting there ordered a glass of wine, some food and a room. She looked at the others. "Is there anyone we need to notify about your friend who fell, or at the least the evil roaming"

Stalsii's mouth watered when they sat down to a bowl of hot stew. For too long it had been scraps and rations, now this was a meal.  They paused looking at the bowl when Keishara mentioned Rae. "I don't know if she had anyone to tell. A lot of us don't have anyone. That's why we become adventurers. I only knew her a short while myself. She was looking for her place." They sniffed, "I guess she found it the hard way." they dug into their meal without another word.

Lindra shook her head as the others spoke, "I know nothing of her past or her people. As for who to notify of the Black One, I will find and approach the Civilised in the city tomorrow."

She looked dumbly at her stew for a while, and sipped her wine. She knew that the life of an adventurer was challenging but she had not expected this of her first outing. She had been powerless to help Rae, and could do nothing but watch as the evil consumed her life force and then departed without even a thought for the rest of them. Perhaps those at the monastery were right to cajole her and call her weak.

"I am quite tired," she managed before picking up her spoon to begin eating.
