So I need to pipe in and here; I think Moldvay had some confused ideas about ancient Egyptian burial practices, which has created, I think, some unnecessary confusion. Pharaohs and queens would be entombed with the material possessions that it was thought they would most need in their next life. Such things would be of no use if they were broken. Surely, we've all been to the museums and beheld the golden combs and jade nail clippers and so on.
Moldvay:
All the items have been ritually "killed" (broken, ripped, or smashed) just like the larger items littering the floor.
That would not have been so.
But because it has been presented as so, you can only logically conclude that perhaps raiders destroyed the items in their despair when they became trapped within the tomb. However, if you cleared the rubble in 15 minutes, so could have they.
