[Setting] The World!

THE CALENDAR YEAR

In the Borderlands, there are four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) each season consisting of three months, each month consisting of three tendays, and marked by the New Moon (which takes just about three tendays to complete its phases).

The first month in a given season is called Near, or Low, or Ere, or New (New Spring, Ere Summer, Low Winter, etc).

The second month in a given season is called High [Season].

The third month in a given season is called Far, or Long, or Past, or Old (Far Spring, Long Summer, Past Winter, etc).

Places and occupations and people who measure time precisely enough to require names for the months and days will often use some kind of local, system.

[Setting] The World!

THE EASTERN EMPIRE
This is the easternmost realm of the civilized world. It's eastern borders are nebulous and open to some debate, but for sure, once you pass out of the Eastern Empire, you're off the map and into the Borderlands.

The Eastern Empire touches the northern shore of the Azure Sea. There is a large port town there called Havenport.

Havenport is about 10 days' journey from the Keep.

Titles and Styles and Modes of Address for Nobility 101

Joryanna is a Duke, not a Duchess. In her tradition, a 'Duchess' is the half of a noble couple who manages the castle, the staff, social situations, and (most importantly) keeps the books. The 'Duke' is the half of the marriage who manages the military, the security and safety of the castle, and is the de-facto head of the legal system. Decisions about the wider realm are generally arrived at by consensus between the two.

Proper address for her person is Duke Al'Mira, My Duke, The Duke, Lady Duke, Your Grace or Your Highness.

When she is sitting in the Ducal Seat (or otherwise speaking ex cathedra, you can tell because she'll say 'we' instead of 'I'), she is to be referred to as 'Almiraj' (because she's speaking as the realm, not as herself).

Especially close and trusted retainers have "in Extraordinary" appended to their title or job. Such people may refer to her as Lady Joryanna, or Duke Joryanna, or The Lady or My Lady. Retainers in Extraordinary are permitted to wear their weapons in her presence.
