DOWNTIME

Characters may wish to pursue individual studies while not actively adventuring. In order to represent both use of off-screen free time as well as deliberate time off for specific projects, we will abstract one week of full time work (roughly 8-10 hours a day for a week, plus or minus a day or two off) into one Downtime Point (DP). One month of full-time work equates to 4 DP. One Season of full-time work equates to 12 DP.

The table below assumes adequate instruction and/or facilities. If instruction or facilitiies is either inadequate or exceptional, the DP required may increase or decrease accordingly.

While adventuring, a PC may gain 0.5 DP per week so long as one of the other PC's possesses the skill in question and agrees to act as their instructor (or the project does not require instruction).

Some examples of possible projects are:

12 DP

• Gain one Proficiency or Language thematically or mechanically linked to your Class or Race or Background.
• Learn one new spell (max 2nd level, prepared casters only).
• Increase an Attribute by one (to a Max of 12).
• Gain Advantage on all social roles with one identifiable group (for a year or two).
• Gain Advantage on the folllwing skills for one local geographical area: Investigation, Survival, Stealth, all Lore Skills.

24 DP

• Gain one Proficiency or Language.
• Learn one new spell (max of 4th level, prepared casters only).
• Increase an Attribute by one (to a Max of 16).

36 DP

• Gain one Feat thematically or mechanically linked to your Class or Race or Background.
• Learn one new spell (max of 5th level, prepared casters only).
• Increase an Attribute by one (to a Max of 18).

48 DP

• Gain one Feat.
• Gain one Alternate Class Feature.
• Learn one new spell (max of 6th level, prepared casters only).
• Increase an Attribute by one (to a Max of 20).

Other  projects (building a home, starting a business, etc) will be assigned a DP requirement when they're started.
