The shop had an unremarkable front and inside it was rather simple. The eta had just arrived to take the body away, but Haruna hurried over to get a good look at it.

Hanako followed her gaze sweeping about in a watchful manner, watching for any dangers.

"It appears that the merchant was killed with small blades, likely a tanto," Haruna said.

Hanako nodded "Was the wound in the front, or back? Does it look like he tried to defend himself?" she asked.

"The wounds on his hands make it seem like her tried," Haruna said. "He has a deep wound on the back of his neck and on his torso as well. It could mean there is more than on attacker or that his attacker surprised him."

Bamako considered that for a moment "Then we should examine we're he was attacked then?" she suggested.

It wasn't too far, a back room in the shop. There was blood everywhere.

"This seems to have been a truly savage attack," Hanako said.

"Yes, clearly it was personal," Haruna said.

"Were there any witnesses?" Hanako asked.

"No, samurai-san," the peasant said.

Hankao nodded and examined the crime scene as Haruna had showed her before.

This was where the murder was committed and it was clearly personal.

Hanako examined the store, and then turned to Haruna "Perhaps if we question the family? " she suggested to Haruna "Found out if any one had a grudge against him?"

"Yes, a good idea," Haruna said, the eta led you to the back. There was a woman and two young children there.

Hanako approaches the women "You knew the man who died here?" she asked.

"Yes, samurai-san, he was my husband," the woman said.

"I am sorry for your loss," Hanako said "Could you tell me about your husband? Was there anyone you can think of that would want to harm him?"

"He was just a simple merchant, just making end's meat by selling various trinkets he made," the woman said. "There were a few merchants like Seiji from across the street that he argued with a lot and dealt with the firemen asking for protection money."

"The firemen?" Hanako asked "And they ask for protection money"

"They do of any shop without a samurai patron," the woman said.
