The street was again silent as the man feel to the ground, and Kasumi got the impression people were deliberately hiding till she moved on.

Kasumi headed back to where she left her future mother-in-law.

You find the old women sitting where you left her, sipping some tea.

"Ah there you are, you were taking so long I thought you got lost" Hitomi said.

"I had to deal with a couple of thugs that attacked me, claiming to be on the orders of someone else," Kasumi said.

"That's horrible, to think that law and order would fall such, that a samurai could be attacked in daylight" Hitomi said "Did they tell you who paid them?"

"No, they didn't," Kasumi said.

"That is unfortunate" Hitomi replied "We should let the Thunderguard know about this"

"Yes, we should," kasumi said.

"The nearest post isn't too far. Hopefully Koshiki Soshi is on duty" Hitomi said as she stood and led the way.

Kasumi followed.

Hitomi leads you to a building with two armoured men standing outside, they great her with with salutes, it seems she is known to them.

Kasumi kept watching.

Inside Hitomi heads towards the back of the building where a foxeyed man is working at a desk "Ah Lady Bayushi, how may I help you?" He asked bowing slightly rewards the elderly scorpion.

"My future daughter in law was attacked by thugs, she says they claimed they were hired by someone to kill her" she explains "I see that is serious" Koshiki Soshi said and turned to Kasumi "I had better record your statement then"

Kasumi recounts what happened leaving out her attempted mercy and what the thug had said about who hired them.

Koshiki Soshi carefully records the account "This is most concerning, I will dispatch some of my guards to investigate the area, perhaps they can find something" he nods in agreement at his own words "I shall let you know what we find"

Kasumi bowed.

"Thank you."

Hitomi echoed Kasumis thanks and the pair left the guardshouse, as several Thunderguards trooped off towards the area Kasumi was attacked.

"I am curious why someone would have me attacked like that," Kasumi said as she walked. "I haven't been here long enough to make enemies."

"Perhaps you were mistaken for someone else" Hitomi suggested "or someone decided that a magistrate on her own was too good an opportunity to pass up"

"perhaps. I certainly hope I haven't made an enemy already," Kasumi said.

"This is Ryoko Owari things will happen Kakita-san" the old scorpion said as the pair walked "when will you be starting your duties?" She asked.

"In a couple of days," Kasumi said.

"Then hopefully this incident is concluded before you start, you would not want this weighing on your mind while you work"

"That is true," Kasumi said. "And hopefully it is done with."

The pair of samurai return to the family mansion.
