You continue your descent and come to a pair of large double doors. The right one is swung open, and you hear a persistent humming from within. You see a green glow from within and spy a large spherical chamber, with a stone bridge leading to the center at the end of the bridge. In the center is a pair of what appear to be thick glowing vines twisting around each other from the floor up to the ceiling, there are rungs adjoining them together like a hopelessly twisted ladder. Glowing diagrams orbit and fluctuate around the vines. There are two podiums where the bridge ends and surrounds the vines. The top of the podiums seem to be glowing as well.

As Gremo mentioned "ghouls", Silas's eyebrows perked up.

He held his staff defensively as he looked around the room and didn't say anything.

"Don't worry. They're likely long gone," says Dantes to Silas. "But if not..." he pats his silver holy symbol. "The Light of the Solar Temple protects us here."
Taking in the spectacle before them, he adds, "But this is something different entirely."

Dantes, please roll for surprise and roll initiative?

As Barghujin doesn't have her bow ready, and her spear is broken, she is just going to have to wait for the Ghouls to land before she can do anything.
