II - The Manor
Emma effortlessly dismounts and hands the reigns to a stable boy. While Michal is busy saving the life of the architect on the second floor the servants grabs the reigns of the knights horses and takes them to the stable for some well earned care and rest. Their hooves clop on the cobbled yard as the stable hands take them to the low wooden stable.
The manor is a fine enough stone and wood building surrounded by a low stone wall. Although clearly well enough taken care of it has seen better days.
A distinguished older woman clad in fine, brown livery -robes trimmed with lamb fur- steps out from the main entrance to the manor, a large door with double leaves made from sturdy oak. The woman stands rigidly with a straight back and no hint of a smile on her narrow lips. Some of her grey hair sticks out from beneath a white veil tied with a barbette under her sharp chin. She bows deeply to Emma and proceeds to explain that Michal, the healer, has brought the damaged master builder and is caring for him. She explains to Quin that the state of the man is uncertain but it seems he will need surgery to survice the night.
Emma nods and instructs the head servant -Melisande- to give the healer everything he needs, as well as fetch the monks to assist. Melisande nods and scurries off.
Emma sighs, turns to Quin and Henri to speak but stops herself as Johann strolls through the low arch into the yard.
