Dalmar sighs plaintively to no one at such useless belongings, closes the creature's eyes and murmurs something in Kalzerian that could be interpreted as rest in peace, along with a request to Suhsan to please do something about that tear in the force that is slowly dripping anguish if he has time, and possibly not tell Volath who asked him to, and rises, padding back towards the ship.

Cassus, meanwhile, has reappeared from the storage bay shortly afterwards, carrying a case full of mines in one arm and a tripod mounted blaster cannon in his other.

"Get this set up," he calls to Jantus, plonking the blaster cannon outside the ship. "I'll set up these mines down below. Mundi, you want live? I suggest you make yourself useful."

"Well that isn't creepy at all," Jantus frowns, eying the corpse of the creature as he exits the ship as he nevertheless moves over to begin assembling the turret.

Ki-Eldi exits the ship a few moments later, his expression looking distant as he takes in the scene before him.

"It appears our presence here has not gone unnoticed," he observes.

Cassus glances back at Ki-Eldi, but does not grace the Cerean's comment with a response as he leaps off the edge of the ledge, disappearing into the chasm below.

"If you wished to be useful," Dalmar suggests, returning from washing his hands in the ship's refresher, "You could meditate on the tear in reality there and mend it before more enemies are attracted to it. I am sure Suhsan has more reason to do you favors than I."

Ki-Eldi frowns at Dalmar, before his expression takes on a benevolent demeanor and he gives a grim but compassionate smile.

"I shall attempt to mend this tear if I am able."

With that he seats himself cross-legged beside the body of the deceased creature, closing his eyes as he begins to meditate.

Jantus glances up at Ki-Eldi as he works, before shaking his head and focusing on assembling the turret once more.

Dalmar drifts closer to Ki-Eldi as he meditates, expression shifting slightly as the Cerean works into something that might nearly be called respect. He observes for perhaps a minute or two, before-- apparently deciding Ki-Eldi has this well in hand-- the Kalzerian pads silently towards the drop Cassus leapt down.

Dalmar sees no sign of Cassus, who he suspects has once again entered the opening below, and after another moment or two, Ki-Eldi opens his eyes behind him as he calmly rises and strides over to join the Kalzerian.

"I sense it too," he says grimly as he too peers down into the chasm.

"The closer one is to the light, the more keenly one feels the wound when the darkness seeks to swallow it, Dalmar agrees, still gazing down into the darkness below. "Lord Suhsan indeed favors you. Not many are able to mend such tears."

"We had best get the ship reassembled," Ki-Eldi replies grimly. "Hyperdrive or no, we should not remain here."

"I agree," Dalmar nods. "I am not sure how wise it is of our friend to set up mines that may kill more of them while repairs are still ongoing."

Ki-Eldi glances back at the ship, frowning as he seems to estimate just how long reassembling the ship might actually take.

"I fear we shall have to defend ourselves as best we can, in which case we will need every resource at our disposal," he says grimly at length, turning his appraising glance to Dalmar. "You mentioned you may have knowledge on where my friend's mind might be trapped? My efforts to reconstruct his mind are proving decidedly futile and his swordsmanship may prove vital to our escaping this place."

"I believe what I said was Lord Suhsan may well aid your apprentice, should you ask him for his help as a servant of the Light," Dalmar glances at him. "And yes, I agree that would be a very sensible path to take. He, too, can aid in mending tears should more form, and perhaps avoid them forming entirely."

Ki-Eldi doesn't appear overly impressed at Dalmar's suggestion, grimly accepting the fact that they will indeed be doing without the unconscious Jedi in whatever battle may be ahead.

"Yes, I suppose you did say that," he acknowledges, making no effort to return to the ship or beseech the suggested deity for the time being. "How skilled are you with mind tricks?" he asks, after a moment.

If Dalmar is unimpressed by this choice, he chooses not to voice it (for now.)

"That depends on many things, including the favored or unfavored status of one's targets, and just how much 'mind' a being has to begin with," Dalmar narrows his eyes slightly. "Why?"

"If we can distract or deter these creatures for long enough, we may be able to avoid combat entirely," Ki-Eldi explains. "Planting a suggestion in their mind that they return to their home and that there is nothing up here could certainly prove useful. It will, however, involve exploring deeper to find these creatures before they find us."

"They are sentients, not mere creatures, I fear. And the one Cassus slew was resistant to such suggestions when I tried doing so. I doubt those below would prove more susceptible to such tactics. Not when Lord Volath works against us to oppose us."

"I wouldn't bother trying to reason with him, Mundi," Jantus injects unhelpfully as he hoists the blaster canon into place on the assembled tripod and locks the last few latches into place.

"So your solution is, in fact, to simply wait here and hope that they do not come looking for their missing companion until our ship is repaired?" Ki-Eldi clarifies resignedly.

"Indeed," Dalmar nods. "Unless you are sufficiently well-versed in the manipulation of the material plane to lift the ship somewhere else?"

"I am not," the Cerean admits. "At least not enough to make any significant difference if these creatures do decide to come searching for us."

Dalmar mms.

"Even a short distance may be enough. If they see the ship is gone, they may assume it has gone because it has flown off."

"If they even knew it was a ship they were looking for in the first place," Ki-Eldi counters. "I am not even sure that I am capable of such a feat. I suppose we can put the suggestion to Cassus, though I suspect I know how he will respond..."
