The beginning

In the beginning was a consciousness. Not a consciousness as you or I could possibly perceive of it, but one far beyond our comprehension. It's nature, devices, motivations, and thoughts were entirely alien to anything we can imagine in our most beautifully luminous or depraved imaginings. It was this consciousness that brought forth our universe as we know it today.

Through means and machinations the spark that birthed everything in existence from space and time itself was born. That spark... That singularity, we call the Big Bang and every galaxy, star, planet, and every molecule has been formed since that initial spark.

Some call the consciousness God. Others call it fate, or probability. Whatever you choose to call it, it exists regardless of your awe, fear, or skepticism. This truth is written in every known law of physics and shouted into the endless universe by every particle. Breadcrumbs leading back to the immutable truth of it's, and our existence.

This isn't the gods we imagine through our religions and fever dreams. It is not the Messiah, or Christ, or Buddha. This God neither hears nor cares about our insignificant pleas or prayers anymore than you or I hear the prayers of amoebas floating endlessly through the sea. We are beneath it's notice. Orders of magnitude beneath the endless consciousness of God. But the religions are correct in the presumption that God was indeed responsible for the creation of everything.

After the Spark, the time of expansion began. The order of the universe began to develop. Time set forward in it's unrelenting March into infinity. Particles coalesced into atoms and molecules. These primordial molecules came together to form clouds, plasmas and eventually stars. These stars spread and clumped into galaxies and some became singularities themselves in the form of black holes, drawing and holding ever more stars and building ever more galaxies...

It was in one of these hot, turbulent galaxies that a novel and singular accident of probability and chance that a process began. Chains of complex molecules began to form following an ever more precise pattern. Accidentally at first, then more and more often as certain molecules became more abundant and common. Then something completely unimaginable happened. Some sort of spark of energy reacted with this complex chain of molecules and suddenly the molecule drew more matter to itself and made an exact copy of the first. These molecules replicated and spread causing others to also replicate and spread. Over time these molecules became longer and more complex constantly building and evolving but never losing that spark that we now call life.

Eons passed and this spark called life evolved and changed, adapting to the conditions of the small rock hurtling around the gravity well of it's intense young star. Billions of different combinations rose and fell some succeeding as most died away until one day one of the collections of molecules suddenly realized that it existed in a different state than all of the others. This state we now call consciousness.

These primordial conscious collectives of cells and energy arose to be gods in their own right. As far above their own kind as the God consciousness was above them. They created groups, communities, cities and civilizations with their newfound powers of intellect and reason. They created science, art, music, and every other imaginable companion to that consciousness and eventually they began to wonder how many other times the gifts of life and consciousness could have evolved throughout the universe they inhabited.

They began to search. Reach out amongst the stars searching and hoping that they would find others to compliment their own existence. For untold ages they searched and made great sacrifices to no avail. Eventually their star began to cool, their species began to wither, but still they desperately searched and hoped that their inevitable death wouldn't be alone and unheard throughout the universe. Unfortunately their sad fate, having been firstborn, they were alone. In the vast emptiness and isolation of the universe there would be no others to hear their dying whimper. Their time and their journey had come to an end.

In defiance to the cruelty of fate, they chose to dedicate everything of themselves to guaranteeing that their end would never be repeated. That their blessing of life would not end with them. To this end they began construction of a very basic, adaptable, and hearty form of life they called the Seed. They replicated the seed trillions upon trillions of times, cannibalizing their systems resources in preparation and staging the Seeds around their star.

Finally, one day, as had been foretold and expected, the star died in its way. The star exploded, annihilating the primordial race, but propelling their Seeds into the cosmos. The Primordial race died in the supernovas fires, but their creations lived on. They hurtled through space for more untold ages. Some finding new homes, others forever speeding through the cosmos. Of those that found new homes where they could prosper and evolve, one landed here and became the Genesis of our species.
