The Confectioners' Ice House

[Town Hall, Conference Room S]

Hardly anyone liked doing their mandatory monthly community service. Apprentices and freshly promoted journeyfolk liked to think of it as a chance to go on adventures, but most people subjected to the experience called it “molehill duty” given the frequency of scut work assignments requested by the community. Tasks such as “squirrel nest relocation”, “filing permits for mind altering enchantment”, and “find the sentient bookmark” were far more frequent than “destroy the cursed object”, “explore the haunted manor”, or “rescue the community service team from an ooze infested ice house”.

“Someone needs to rescue Upstart Sairy’s community service team from the confectioner’s guild ice house,” Archivist Betony announced.

Upstart Aneko, Sairy’s fiancee, gave the Archivist a pained look.

”Sairy went to the ice house to study Thrice-Digested’s glyphs for keeping the place cold,” the Upstart of Catchkeep clarified, ”Snow went with her because Viv’s coffee shop is out of sugar and ice, and Snow won’t drink anything that isn’t sweet enough to rot her teeth, and Aadhira went with them both because,” Aneko shrugged, ”she likes hanging out with people. Anyway, that was hours ago, even if Sairy got distracted by research and Aadhira started a snowball fight, Snow would have come back for coffee, and Viv hasn’t seen her today.”

“I’d go myself but,”
she glanced down at her heavily bandaged leg.

”The point of training is to avoid injury,” Archivist Betony replied to the unspoken request, ”if we ask for the blessings of Catchkeep when we are injured in training, then the lesson is worthless.”
