We'll say taught by an elder grooming me for messenger-hood.  She would have been gaunt, strict, and probably 7 tailed so very self important and unwilling to take guff from young'uns.  I never knew if she actually acknowledged my ability or if she heard about me leaving Kihime.

I was hoping for Winter's Child.  Charisma and Intelligence as boosts.  Grants Weather Lore and Arcane Sense.

Grandfather was likely from Irrisen and left after the nonsense of the previous queen's bitter reign for warmer climes.  Wandering with merchants over the Northern tundras, he eventually ended up in the region and was smitten with one of the kitsune in tailless form, etc.

This changes your Foxfire to Cold damage.

Is your grandfather human (Ulfen) and wandered from Irrisen to Tian Xia?

Per discord, Frozen Wind heritage changes damage to cold, not having an ancestor that crossed the crown.

Grandfather would have been human, yes, but probably wasn't Ulfen.  Just a guy following the merchants seeking a cheaper route around the oceans to hawk their wares in foreign lands in a bid to escape the cruelest queen and winter in an age.

The most common languages in Ustalav are Taldane (known as Common), Skald, and Varisian.

Currently, everyone in the party knows Taldane, so it would be a solid choice for party communication.
