I own both. I could barely start Portia, but Sandrock is a big leap in terms of quality.

Re: Lobby - OOC

I do not know what these things are. I play mostly 4x4s and TBS with a bit of adventure RPG here and there.

As for how I visualize Will... uhh... I kinda don't?

Makes me want to go tinker with BG# character builder to see what I get though?

Re: Lobby - OOC

There, threw something into Will's description. Not perfect. BG3 doesn't do well at making young looking characters. And I couldn't find the right hair but that might be what he has done since joining the guards?

It's a fair representation of at least his 'character.'

Will's is almost certainly an unkempt mess. But I couldn't find anything that worked. So I gave him 'helmet hair.' haha.

Re: Lobby - OOC

I hope everyone had (and is still having) a good holiday season.  I've been taking it easy, responding to the people posting but not poking the others.  That will change toward the end of this week, when I'll start poking to get things moving again.  Tomorrow I have an unfortunate dental appointment (my last checkup found a chipped filling that needs fixed), and I always react badly to Novocain so I expect to be pretty useless Wednesday and Thursday.  After that I'll be back to business as usual.

So if your group is in the middle of something and you haven't posted any character actions for it, maybe do that between now and the end of the week.  Until then, hopefully your next couple of days go better than mine!

Re: Lobby - OOC

I am back.

Getting ready for the holidays was a bit tough after we had been ill in December. Everything didn't get done but enough to get on with. The four days my daughter was here were great but we packed the twelve days into those four, which was a bit tiring as well. Great days though!

Hope 2024 treats everyone well.

Re: Lobby - OOC

Just a note about NPCs in the game.  In general, NPCs are competent at their jobs, but don't expect them to be more than they are.  NPCs not involved with player activities learn painfully slow, which is why the NPCs you've encountered don't all have amazing skills.  The long-time veterans have some, but most of the younger guard members just know how to use their equipment, and that's it.  NPC skills also tend to degrade over time if they're not practicing them regularly, so most are specialists.

The game world functions according to typical game rules, where NPCs will make decent enough decisions but it's generally the job of the players to push things along if there are directions the players want events to take.  Right now everyone is mostly following the same quest chain because you've been doing the things the NPCs have asked in order to get training.  At some point you're going to want to drive things in different directions.

That won't all happen in character, we can talk out of character about where you want things to go and we'll work out what scenes to play out.  That doesn't mean you'll lose your training opportunities, just that you'll start to have input on events as you start to exercise your player agency.

All that to say, don't be afraid to deviate from the quest chain if you've got better ideas about what needs to happen.

Got it System. Ryan will likely continue to proceed as if there are uber mages lurking about until he either becomes one or something happens that fundamentally shifts his pragmatic (read: totally not paranoid) nature.

Oh, there probably are, but they won't be the ones coming to help.  They'll be the ones you have to seek out in isolated mountain crags, or who come to cause trouble.

Hmm, so if I think about what Ananda Caine would do in a given situation, that's what I'll do maybe.

Re: Lobby - OOC

I've already been experimenting a little, but it's good to get confirmation that I can deviate from the "main story" if I want to.

Re: Lobby - OOC

That might be a little more complicated in group 2, where there are three people. Otherwise I'd definitely have Red just start doing her own thing.

Checking in again! How's everyone doing? Red is currently contemplating doing something either very dumb, or very cool that involves literally swinging from the rafters!

We are currently deciding where to go next on our group. I have lots of individual ideas, but nothing to do as a team yet.

Sorry for going dark last week!  It was spring break, and I had plans for all sorts of things I was going to accomplish, but apparently my mind had other ideas.  Instead I hardly remember most of the week.  Apparently my mind rebelled and I spent most of it comatose.  Anyway, I'm back in the swing of things now.
