Heavenfall
Eons ago the Demon Gods invaded Aereos and brought along with them their demon kin. The Protectors (the various gods of Aereos who refuse to wear the title of god) rushed to the scene and fought valiantly to try and stop the demon invasion. The punches exchanged between these gods demolished the surrounding area and caused tremors that went on for miles. Both sides were so fast that the gusts of wind were strong enough to slice clean through solid stone buildings.
The tides of the battle turned when Akachi grasped the neck of the leader of the Demon Gods. The Demon God laughed as Akachi's body slowly began to petrify, but before the petrification could take hold he squeezed hoping to kill it before he was completely stone. Aroa, the Protector of Time, rallied her siblings in a final attempt to protect Aereos and quite literally bought her sister Taika, the Protector of Magic, the time she needed to create a new plane of existence. A large portal into an endless void of violet appeared behind her enemies. The original goal was to seal the Demon Gods in a separate plane of existence, but as the portal began to drag the Demon Gods each of them latched on to a nearby Protector with all of their might. The Demon Gods and the Protectors were sucked into the void leaving an eerie silence across the land.
However, the war against the demons was far from over. Even without their Demon Gods the demons still posed a great threat to the mortal races. The demons spread across Aereos quickly. They feasted on mortals, corrupted the ecosystems around them, and destroyed cities. The mortal races struggled to recover from this chaos and many years of fighting the demons led to specialized warriors who called themselves demon hunters. These demon hunters fought across the globe to reclaim their home from the demons and from their victories mighty kingdoms rose and the mortal races were able to push the demons back to the desolate northern continent.
Creation of the Demon Underworld and Rise of Demon Lord Asinx
During the era of the first computers demons learned to become more than just terrors of the night. Those who had the intelligence to do so turned the desolate northern continent into an urban civilization they called the Iahzit Empire. The mortals called it the Iahzit Horde mockingly. They were led by a being who called themselves Demon Lord Asinx and he had many generals under him who ran different cities. In addition to this demons managed to corrupt even the magic of the world itself causing the creation of curses and tainting the spirits of the dead. Shape-shifters were and still are especially deadly creatures that attacked politicians and normal citizens alike. Demons constantly launched full-scale invasions despite pressure from multiple sides and laid waste to neighboring cities.
The power of this new demon nation was becoming too threatening so the various Border Countries (those who shared a border with the Iahzit Horde) got together to create a weapon to do away with the Iahzit Horde. This weapon combined both magic and technology to create explosions of disastrous proportions. The technology was called a Greater Explosion Rocket (named after a spell called Greater Explosion that powered it) or G.E.R. for short. The Border Countries launched these weapons without hesitation and laid waste to the demon nation. The northern continent became entirely uninhabitable for the mortal races and became known as the Iahzit Wastes.
Asinx, in preparation for an attack of this magnitude, used an artifact called the Philosopher's Stone to create a portal to a hidden civilization of the demons that existed in a separate realm they had spent centuries connecting to Aereos. Demon attacks continued after the destruction of the Iahzit Nation. These realms were relics lost to time and gave the perfect cover for demons to continue their assault on the mortal world. Demon attacks continued despite the demon nation being reduced to ashes, but their attacks became more subtle. Demon hunters scoured world and interrogated every manner of beast they could before eventually finding a way to the new home of the demons. Entry was limited and prevented large scale invasive forces from either side which made direct attacks more dangerous.
Entrances and exits to the demon world can be created by anyone pretty much anywhere a fire can be made. This made tracking them difficult. To stay on top of this new threat the guild system was absorbed into governments across the globe to train and hire new demon hunters that would defend their cities. The demons also did their part to create underground organizations loyal to them to thwart the demon hunters.
Enter the Heroes
The eternal battle between demons and the mortal races continues nearly a thousand years later. The mortal races have marched on and pursued their own interests and revolutionized the world in many ways. The world has been rebuilt without the imminent threat of attack plaguing each country. Technology has advanced beyond anyone's wildest expectations and many aspects of life have become much easier. However, weaponry has also advanced and without the threat of demons directly in their eye governments are able to turn their vision outwards. Their evil and greed often being taken advantage of by the very same enemies they neglect.
However, you are born. Your life is varied and unique just like the rest of the mortal races, but it is also plagued with the stain that is the demon race. They may have killed your family, taken your home, used your loved ones, or enslaved them to be of use to their army. You may have had a normal life and simply standing up to the atrocity that is these demons. It may be a job that is passed down to you. Hell, you may have been reincarnated in this world and thrust into the situation with very little understanding. Whatever your story, you, a roughly twenty year-old adult, now stand before the "Lightning Flash" guild house.
The guild house is a government building used to keep track of and reward superhuman individuals for their deeds (and sue them for damages). This particular guild house resides within the confines of the country of Carleria. To help develop and guide groups of fighters dedicated to the destruction of the demon race. The receptionists here are educated on the demon threat. They will provide you with the information and contacts you need to locate, hunt down, and profit from your indiscriminate killing of the demon horde.
Your journey begins here with your application to this office. You are equipped with your invitation to apply which was given to you personally during your journeys or after you graduated from an affiliated guild combat school.
