Can you give me a quick physical description? Do they have fins or hair or both or neither? What are the scale color possibilities?

They do have hair and they are covered in scales. They have propulsion style gill-things on the back of their legs and arms, which is what the mother was referring to her 'skills'. Basically she can navigate accurately. They do where clothes, and the scales can move to give them direction. i.e. If they are turning right, the scales on the left can flare up in order to assist with the turns, etc.

They are usually 5'5" - 6'

They have a very similar appearance to humans, except they are covered in scales, have earholes rather than actual ears and are covered in scales with webbing between their hands and feet. (So far, that may be changing in the future.)

GMO's: The acronym stands for Genetically Modified Organism, but the Vanorans have no idea that's what it stands for. They have always been referred to as 'GMO's.

These creatures are closely related to sea kraits, a type of venomous aquatic snakes. They do have legs like crocodiles which allow them to move on land when necessary, though they are mostly found on the surface near lands and sand beds.

These creatures vary in length, but can get as large as 10 feet long. They have a long paddle-like tail that allows them to move quickly in the water.

They are incredibly aggressive and will attack anything that is the same size or smaller than themselves. Their venom is a type of paralytic and when a Vanoran is bitten, it is fatal in 9 out of 10 cases. They will attack and even eat Vanorans if the opportunity resents itself.

They are incredibly sensitive to movement in the water and send out electrical signals to survey their surroundings. If they are touched, they can deliver a lethal bolt.

Generally speaking, they are bad news. Legend has it they are protecting the 'secret of the gods' on the surface and anyone who ventures too closely is killed for testing the theory.
