The core rules and the four god books are fair game, though if you go for one of the location specific archetypes please come up with a reason that you are where you are.
Oh, also, look up the erratas, I know some of the books are a bit of a mess.

You start with 2000xp extra, and 1d10 Corruption extra, and 1d10 Infamy extra.  Lucky lucky you.

For stat generation I shall be a generous god.  Roll two complete arrays and select the best line, then place the individual scores in whichever stat you like.  Apart from Infamy, of course, thats its own thing.
