Cora remained on the ship, watching over the gunwale.  "Turn around...." she urged the guards under her breath.

Knowing the distance was quite far, Don drew out his crossbow, grabbed the loading lever, and pulled it. As the string latched into place over the trigger, he drew out a bolt and loaded it into the cradle, ready to be fired. He had the pistol if necessary, but there was no reason to draw more attention than they were already about to.

Wilfred attempts to find a good spot for ambushing.

Annica stayed on the ship, waiting for the distraction to work. She was preparing to move closer the moment she could.

Valdon threw up his hands in exasporation, and stopped, allowing the guards to hopefully take a few steps forward. The trick was usually to get people to buy into a performance initially, once they had, belief would gain a momentum all its own. "Brent and Red got into it again. Dunno why, damned dice again probably. Still, I need to have a word with the captain about it. Any chance you lot could watch the idiots", he nodded back to the boat, "while I go and find her?".

Fyn was moving as quietly as he could to be within line of sight, and within range, of the person at the entrance that Valdon was going to talk to, readying a Chill Touch cantrip.

Echo had been watching everything happening... and not happening... around her. Hearing Valdon mention Red, she plopped on her mask and became Red. She made sure to look quite beaten up so as to corroborate Valdon's story. She stumbled a bit from behind the boat, growled loudly, and shook her fist towards the boat. She has a feeling that maybe she needs more acting classes. Her intention was to continue the ruse, but she panics and runs back to the group behind the ship with tears in her eyes and a guilty look on her face.

"Sorry guys. You might get your fight now. I kinda screwed things up."

Valdon came out and spoke like he knew them for an eternity - his comfort was well and truly inspiring. As that happened, the group got into place around the other side of the ship and at the bow. When Valdon spoke, the man groaned. "One of these days, red is Gonna just squash that smart ass halfling." He looked back shaking his head, and the other two relaxed.

....then echo came around as herself with a red face, smiling. The group frowned as they looked at her. "...what the hells is that?" the otehr muttered.

Valdon sighed internally as yet another perfectly good plan was foiled by the group as a whole, We really need to get better if we're gonna try this again. Turning back to the boat, Valdon kept his hands off his weapons and tried to act suprised, "That's not Red...".

Fyn was straining to watch and to hear what happened. He leaned forward a little and slipped, almost tipping over and falling to the ground, but quickly catching himself. But something had shifted. "huh?"

Echo winced painfully as she realized her mistake. "Fuck, fuck, fuck," she admonished herself in whispers standing, frozen, on the pier staring at the pirates with mouth agape.

Shaking herself back into reality, she realized she may have put Valdon in danger. She lets out one more whispered "fuck" before she throws an eldritch blast at the pirate closest to Valdon.

LOCATION - Pirates Hideout (Docks)

The utter chaos of Echo coming out as 'red' threw not only the three pirates, but the group as a whole - any advantage they thought they had was now gone. Valdon blinked as he looked at echo almost like he didn't know what was happening.

Cora wasted no time, and with a weapon she was out of practice with, popped up from the bow of the ship and took aim at the half orc. Her aim was as true as ever as the arrow cut the half orc along his neck, the arrow thudding and shattering on the rocks behind him. The half orc grunted and brought his hand to his neck, spying the woman. "Come down here bitch an' i'll show ye how ta bleed?"

The human, obviously the boss of the three looked at Valdon and the half orc. "Help me kill these bastards." he said, and looked at the half elf. "....get th' boss now!" The half elf nodded and sprinted off.

The half orc smiled coming forward as the two started running along the pier towards the gangplank

"I know -- you put 'em full of holes, right?"  Cora dropped Annica's bow and pull her pistol, taking aim as the pirate ran towards the boat.  She pulled the trigger, and a thunderous crack filled the air.

"Valdon!  Get the runner!" she yelled, trusting the bard to get the job done.  She felt the weight shift in the gun as the mechanism Don had added reloaded the weapon automatically.

Don rushed forward to join the melee. As he ran, small chains of arcane runes began to move behind the scales of his mail armor. Small wheels turned beneath the epaulets, like miniature wagon wheels with too-long spokes, drew the arcane rune-chains through the armor and filling it with the power he'd infused into the suit.

Annica saw the whole debacle with the deception plan and the runner going back to get reinforcement. "Oh no you don't, can't allow that, can we? Valdon can you stop him? " With an arcane word, a small ball of fire appeared in her hand and she looked at the runner "No, too far" Changing target, she lobbed the ball at the half orc, the swarm dissipating around her, reappearing, biting and clawing at the half orc, before teleporting back around her. Saying another word. she made her staff glow green and moved forward, weaving around her allies.

Fyn was often a man of few words, and he was often direct. In this case, he didn't head towards the gangplank to get to the enemy. He headed on to and then off of the bow of the ship down on to the enemies below there on the dock. His sword was in both hands and raised up to take advantage of the momentum to swing down on one of their foes!

And he landed...somewhat gracefully, actually. With a loud, hard thump to be sure, but he didn't falter, he landed on his feet. And the sword swung down as he did so.
