Urmdrak and Rhod -

While you provide cover for your companions to escape to the hallway I’ll let you each roll for a Mighty Deed to keep the clay soldiers at bay.

No luck. Forgot to mark to roll each dice, but a 5 would be impossible with a nat 1, so we know it's not a fumble.

18:44, Today: Urmdrak the Rebel rolled 5 using 1d14+1d3.  Shield Bash.

As Urmdrak and Rhod bravely hold the line at the tunnel's entrance, two clay men charge with spears, with two more behind them with spears in the second rank.

Urmdrak's shield is not enough to hold back the onslaught, and the second spear pierces his chest. (18 points of damage)

Rhod also is impaled by two spears for 8 points of damage.

Meanwhile, Halton leaps to the top of the throne. Parched precariously he begins to smash the crystal with his blades. The steel blade bounces off ineffectually, but the snake's fang makes a large crack in the crystal.

The clay warlord whirls around to face the halfling and draws a sickle-sword to slash at him! (2 point of damage)

Jack wants nothing more than to shout obscenities at that stupid elf for triggering a clay stampede. A clay stampede! What the hell! But he - wisely for once - keeps his silence, trying his best to escape notice as he rolls this way, squirms that way, and generally tries not to get smushed.

13:15, Today: Jack Quick the Beggar rolled 14 using 1d20+1.

Scene 11 - The Clay Army

Aelisyr goes ashen as all the soldiers turn toward her. She begins hotly, "How was I to know -- "

Then she decides now was not the time to argue with Pyke. In fact, now was the time for deciding Pyke might be on to something. The elf flees swiftly behind the forming line of warriors, and from there, hurls an eldritch bolt of her own toward the faraway crystal.

13:22, Today: Jack Quick the Beggar rolled 18 using 1d20+1.  Magic Missile (+1 elf - luck mod +1 level -1 armor +0 intel).
-- says jack but it's aelisyr!
18 = The caster throws 1d4 missiles that deal damage equal to 1d4 + caster level. All missiles must be aimed at a single target to which the caster has line of sight. The missiles never miss, though they may be blocked by certain magic (e.g., magic shield).
13:23, Today: Aelisyr the Wanderer rolled 2 using 1d4+1.  how many missiles? +1 level
-- I messed up, there's just one missile (no +1 level mod on this roll)
13:24, Today: Aelisyr the Wanderer rolled 4 using 1d4+1.  damage? +1 level for this one.

Scene 11 - The Clay Army

[The missile does 5 damage]

The elf gestures frantically and elven runes hover around them. A bolt of energy flashes and echoes in the chamber like thunder.

Halton realizes what’s about to happen and ducks behind the throne as the orb shatters.

The warlord steps on his throne to stab downwards at the halfling. As he raises his spear, he drops it, his clay hands still attached.

The soldiers charge through the tunnel towards the rest of the party Jack desperately crawls and weaves between their clanking feet.

The warlord looks to his stumps as he crumbles, you see the skeleton underneath let out a silent scream as he - and the rest of the army - crumble into dust and dry bones.

OK…first, it’s the PC in the quantum-death state who has to roll under his Luck on d20.

If he succeeds, he’s back to 1HP and -4 on all rolls for the next hour, and sustain a permanent injury, roll randomly for -1 to STR, AGL, or STA.

As for the halfling, every 1 point he spends will improve the roll (in this case lowering it) by 2.

Rhod has 9 luck, Urmdrak 8 and Halton 10. Can Halton save either? And maybe Stanis can help too, if he becomes level 1 with that last busty of xp.

Halton’s Luck is 10 and he can spend down to 3. That’s 7 points, since that doubles when helping someone else it’s 14 points.

Also only one halfling in the party can be the Lucky Halfling. Since neither of them has used Luck yet you could promote Stanis. Since his Luck is 11 you’d get 16 points to spread out.

It was a very complicated scene; I’ll delete the scene and you can redo it if you like.

Urmdrak survives but with some damage to his nerves, -1 to Agility score.

After Urmdrak seems to be stable, Halton turns to the others, seeing Rhod remain limp. He says out loud in a monotonous voice, too tired to cry for his friend. "There are weapons at the end of the corridor. Go arm yourselves, and carry whatever you can. And let's get the hell out of here"

"How about a quck search here before heading out?" says Pyke poking around the clay soldier and warlord's remains.

If nothing turns up, he follows Halton's directions to the end of the corridor to find some meagre weapon to arm himself. A staff, dagger or sword.

Aelisyr remains where she is, frozen, her arm still outstretched in the moment of her spellcast. Her eyes are on the freshly slain, though. So many of them have already died, but somehow, this last death feels different. More directly her fault, perhaps.

As Pyke speaks up, beginning to scavenge, the elf turns away in silent disgust.

Jack, meanwhile, gingerly uncovers his head as the last of the clay men crumble to dust. He's... alive? He's alive! Jack leaps to his feet, dusting off the ashes of the ages.

"Holy shit, Aelisyr. Nice shot! Hey, wait for me!" Having no such compunctions as Aelisyr, he bounds eagerly after Pyke.
