OOC: Mechanics of the Multiverse

Hello, fellow spherewalkers.

I will be a mage of some sort, exiled from my home until I complete a specific quest, irritated about being trapped on Tanglefoot, especially since it's watery and I came from an arid land. Why is everything damp?!

Hey all!  I'll be playing Coral, a daughter of the local chieftain (and a water shaman).

I know the holidays (US) took a bite out of my time - I'm hoping to post in the inn thread today or tomorrow.

So just a few questions about the game system

  • Have any of you played it before?
  • If so what have the games been like?
  • What kind of 'problems' do players face in the game?

I went looking for published scenarios and found only one 'single session' game. I was wondering what sort of experiences you've all had

I'd never heard of the system before joining this game. So my grand total experience is however many posts we've made here.

I saw the game designer, Jonathan Tweet, promote his upcoming new RPG at an Origins Game Fair (probably 1994 or so) and bought it as soon as it was available. I ran it a few times, using a scenario of my own devising. I was very disappointed that it didn't become more popular.

It is a very narrative-driven game. I tried very hard to keep it open-ended and, as I recall, my scenario ran very differently both times.

My story had three or four spherewalkers come to a world where a curse caused perpetual winter. The inhabitants managed to eke out a subsistence survival on a very hunter-gayherer level and farming root crops in the short and chilly growing season. The spherewalkers managed to lift the curse and restore Summer to the world. That's about all I remember of it.

I was wondering about its use in a 'Amber' or 'Lords of Gossamer and Shadow' sense. Or maybe as an alternative for RIFTs or something.

Well we'll see :)

In my research into online resources on the game, I did find that someone converted trump artistry to an Everway power... so it's out there!

Well... I won't be using that conversion! Trumps can be used by anyone that have them. And they are probably a level 1 or 2 power. Trump artistry is about making trumps. Everway magic systems are far more powerful than the one in that.

Still it's good to see other people are thinking that way.

I'm still willing to jump in - but not sure if the game is continuing.  Should I go ahead and post?

Myeah, it doesn't bode well with the GM not having logged in for so long. I do hope he/she returns, tho.

It doesn't

Still I am grateful for the game: I'd never seen Everway before and I've decided I quite like it. It's basically freeform with a skeleton that stops power creep and God moding. Rather like Amber Diceless but better thought through. I don't know I'd run a game with it, but I might.

If something happens I'll be happy to play. If not, well I'll probably see most of you in other games
