The galaxy is in a state of uncertainty. The long, gruesome Sith War has ended with the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, but the damage and destruction left in it's wake are taking a toll on all citizens. Many insurgents are ignoring the treaty and defiantly continuing the fight against the Sith, while the Republic is reeling from great losses in not only territory, but population, military prowess, moral, credits and clarity. Large swaths of territory have been ceded to the Sith in exchange for a cessation of hostilities that both sides know cannot last. Even worse, many systems in the galaxy have declared themselves independent and refused to support or to receive support from either of the two great galactic powers, opting to go it alone as sovereign entities of their own.

Among these systems is the Nimis System, hosting the descendants of Human colonists from a thousand years previous. Once a member of the Republic, now it struggles to remain neutral, casting off the influence of its former galactic liege-state as well as the newly formed galactic empire of the Sith. Independence, as its Monarchal governing body is now fully aware, is not an easy path to walk. Resource procurement and management are in disarray, trade and general economic growth have slowed to a crawl, living conditions have plummeted, civil unrest has led to a raging civil war, and it would seem that regardless of their efforts, the hard won (yet somewhat corrupt) political independence of the Nimis System is constantly in danger of falling to the influence of those from which they wish to separate themselves.

It is here, in this time and place of great turmoil and opportunity, that our heroes take their first steps into what will become one of the greatest stories the galaxy will ever know.
