Worlds of the Nimis System

Nimis -
Is a population made up of the original human colonists that settled here a thousand years previous. Comprised of temperate climates, ranging from the cold polar regions to the tropical biomes of the central regions, Nimis showed much promise as a world not only capable of sustaining life but to provide a thriving civilization from its vast resources and strategic location in the galaxy.
Years spent taming the wild environs and dangers of the planet yielded amazing results for the first few generations of colonists. Cities, smaller towns, and villages began popping up across Nimis. After explorers reported the vast deposits of various ores on the single moon of the planet, many of the colonists migrated there to make their living as miners, naming it Anemis.

In the 2nd century of Nimis's colonization, a tribal war erupted between two of the major settlements on the planet surface over access to a particularly resource rich region of the planet. These settlements being the main hubs for the economic activity that kept everything running smoothly, drew other, lesser towns and settlements into the conflict that lasted decades and claimed the lives of millions. The war ended with the Nimisans deciding to merge their settlements and end the bloodhed. They adopted a monarchal government structure that relied heavily on its democratically elected chamber of representatives as well as its hereditary and aristocratic branch of leadership to maintain order and progress.

Points of Interest :
O'asi City - The capital city of Nimis and home to millions of residents originating from almost every corner of the galaxy.

Palace - Made from the ruins of the old military citadel complex that once
stood in its place, the palace is home to many of the royal families on Nimis.
Some call it a city in a city, since it is situated at the center of the capital,
O'asi. Surrounding its main and auxiliary buildings are a series of 3 thick
duracrete and blaststeel walls. A gate system allows for guests to reach the
Manor by passing through a series of guarded entrances.
       - Manor - This is the main building of the Palatial Complex. This is
where the chamber of representatives meets on pressing matters and where
laws and policies are debated before the King/Queen makes a final decision
on the matter. Public announcements and social/political events are also
held here from time to time.
       - Barracks - The Royal Guard, charged with protecting the royals,
is stationed in the Palace Barracks. Though small in number, they are highly
trained and experienced in combat and security. The garrison comprises of
infantry, an armored division, and air support. Anyone looking to target the
palace will have a rough go at it, to say the least. "May the Force have
mercy on them, for the Royal Guard will not."

       - Palace Port - The royalty and aristocracy of Nimis travel to and
from luxury space ports such as this one that is situated within the walled
       confines of the Palatial Complex.

Spaceport - While the rich and prominent members of society use the palace
port to travel, most of the population uses the town spaceport. Slightly fancier
than most, it is still a far cry from the decadence of its counterpart in the
   palace complex.

Horizon Row - One of the most popular sections of the city. Horizon row
consists of dozens of bars and clubs. Hundreds of smaller shops line this street,
looking to take advantage of the absurd amount of foot traffic, punctuated by the
occasional large corporate building or park. As in any major city, apartments sit
atop the shops, providing convenient living quarters for the owners and workers.
It's said that no matter what it is you're looking for, you can find it on
Horizon Row...it just usually comes with a side of trouble...

to be continued...

Worlds of the Nimis System

Bogatrix (Bow-gah-tricks) - a lava planet that is the planet closest to the sun. It is close enough to the sun that not only does the intense heat liquify metal, but the friction from gravity due to its close orbit creates internal heat as well preventing the core to solidify. The planet is incredibly rich in exotic and valuable metals but its proximity to the star makes it difficult to mine from. Instead of traditional mining apparatii, hovering cities stay on the dark side of the planet using industrial droids and machinery to scoop up the lava and send it to large furnaces in the refinery for separation and processing. Once processed these ores are transported out across the system.

The planet is almost entirely owned by the Vreedag, an extensive noble family that has controlled the planet for centuries. The Vreedag is an umbrella term for dozens of cadet branches that all vie against one another for control of Vreedag Industries, the corporate entity that controls the mining and refining rigs. While branch families may own one or several platforms, there is only one safe transit lane that is perfectly shielded from the intense heat and radiation of the star and the family that controls this spaceport effectively controls the rest of the Vreedag.

Xilgrin (Zill-grin)
A world just on the edge of the habitable bands of the system. It is the nearest stellar neighbor to Nimis but while Nimis proved to be easy to colonize, Xilgrin has always seemed to resist efforts of civilization. Early efforts were plagued by natural disasters, outbreaks of diseases, and hostile native life and over the centuries the Nimis have seemingly given up on tamining their celestial neighbor. Instead the planet was rebranded as a tourist attraction, where its dangerous history has become a selling point for outdoor adventure enthusaists and survivalists alike. There are several resorts and outposts scattered around the planet but most of the planet is untamed wilderness.

News has broke that ancient ruins have been discovered on the planet although so far the government has refused to comment on them. Because of the secrecy the rumors are flying thick: it could be the remains of ancient sith or jedi, it could be a long lost vault of Xim the Despot and any number of rumors in between.

Worlds of the Nimis System

Anemis -
The single moon that orbits Bogatrix. With the discomfort that the main planet's heat subjects its inhabitants to, Anemis was colonized to provide a safer, more stable living space for the workers of Bogatrix. It's orbit keeps it on the dark side of the planet, away from the sun, providing a more comfortable living arrangement, but still hot enough to produce desert conditions planet-wide. Anemis is the most densely populated "planetary object" in the Nimis System. Initially serving as the home for Bogatrix miners and engineers to commute from, it grew into a civilization of its own over time. Now, sprawling cities cover most of it's surface. Shops, factories, neighborhoods, offices all make up this very urban society. Even in the face of rapid expansion, growth, and economic opportunity, the primary industries of Anemis remain tied directly to the functions of its planetary parent, Bogatrix. Many of these cities are industrial complexes designed to finish the processing of what is mined from the molten planet. Others serve as administration, shipping, or storage centers.
