Re: OOC

Moondenaar:

I'd rather not, as it would mess with the unlocks.  If you retired someone else at the same level first - they have to get a replacement.

Re: OOC

Does that mean that if, for example, I retired a hero at level 2, I would need to retire another one at the same level in order to bring him back?

Re: OOC

Since I sneaked successfully, shouldn’t I have gotten two attacks in a row?

Re: OOC

Sneak only allows you to sneak by or steal from a monster.  If you want to take back the attack, you can steal the urns and go through the next door safely.

Re: OOC

I changed Chief and Clan to Hood (as in Robbin) and Band (as in 'Band of Merry Men') as I think it captures what I was going for better.

Also, do I get 1 hp back for killing a monster?  And how many coins can I carry without a sack?

Re: OOC

No HP back - using food instead.  The urns themselves aren't worth anything, you can carry the coins in an urns as they count as a heavy container, but you'll be weighed down as they're heavy - won't be able to run away, certain traps may be more difficult to avoid.  If you leave the urns you can carry a maximum of 100 coins.

Okay, I’m taking an urn as a heavy box as well as all of the coins.  I’ve adjusted my post appropriately.

Re: OOC

Just noticed that traps are much more deadly than in original game. Traps were rolled with a d6 not d20 so about same odds on base. Thief's got +1 on a d6 which is equal to +3 on a d20 same with 10' pole gave +1 on d6.

Thief with pole had like 1/3 chance to set off traps on 1-2 on d6. with them getting +1 for each on a d20 much higher rate of failure and death. Trick is I guess retire as fast as you can.

Re: OOC

Hmm.  I do think I remember the d6s from the flash game, and that's what OD&D uses usually (notations like pit 1-3 falls in.)  I might change that back, but the bonuses are a little different too as a thief with a high wis and a 10' pole won't ever fail to a pit. I'll need to think on it a bit, any preferences for everyone?

Re: OOC

I just looked up OD&D, it's actually easier than I remember - most traps only spring on a 1-2 on d6.  Of course there's no specifics for using 10' poles, but they're supposed to help somehow (probably through role-playing tapping around trying to find pits etc.)  Thieves get to use swords and listen at doors, and climbing walls.  However they don't have some special way of finding traps or any bonuses to do so, and and can only remove small ones like those that would be on a chest.  Thieves' abilities start out pretty poor and get slowly better too (one thing I've never cared for.)  Very different from Dungeon Robber.

I don't really want to make them immune to traps at 1st level with wis and a 10' pole, Possibly make it +1 save vs. traps per level from thief, though that's pretty weak to begin with still.

Another way would be to make it d6, but you can't ever get below a 1. Or instead you bump the die up each bonus, so with +3 (thief, wis, 10' pole) it'd be 1 in 8?  That might be annoying to track and explain, but I'm willing to give it a try - so I'll make that the HR for the moment.

Yes, you just got unlucky with 'going in circles' result which resets your room (could be good or bad as it's a d10 roll.) Your room track will keep going down 1 while lost for each room you go into, when you hit 1 that's the stairs up.  As the dungeon changes when going back to areas you've been while lost your room count will go down.  I put it back up to 5 as you didn't actually go into 4, just opened the door (you can't do that in the game normally and have to sneak by or fight, but that doesn't quite make sense to me so I'm doing it this way for the moment until I figure out something closer that makes sense to me.)

If I get a friendly result (9) on a parlay roll, can I still bribe it a second time and try again?

Moordenaar - oops, guess not, it's 6-8 that lets you try again, he'll just wave you along.  I'll edit my last post.
