Quick question since we have some redone rules.

In the original game once unlocked we could send in new guys at 0 level but classed,

Ex: We have thieves unlocked, our new guy is 0 level as long as he had dex as hi stat he could be made at 0 level thief.

Also the 2 cider apples I found are they classed as food or something else. Want to know to see if I take with me or leave in warchest.

Only on the character that unlocked it per the PDF.  New characters will need to have the retired level (1 in the case of thief) to unlock it.  Khaven (the orginal) and Weiser are the only ones to have anything unlocked which was Fighter IIRC and you'd still have to get to 1st level with those to change to Fighter.  I

f you're talking about Moordenar, he died so he can't be grow to be a thief.  Sheds a tear

K2 takes over the hood so K1 can venture again. Rest is right in warchest etc.

Khaaven is ready to venture again. Will go solo to start for speed but will consider if meeting in the dungeon.

The whip can defeat animals to make them henchman from the unlock way up there.

Question can it be used on the fire beetles in the dungeon as well to make them henchman too.

No, fire beetles can't be tamed, generally D&D doesn't count bugs as animals though it's unclear. (well I think... I'm going to have to try that in the flash game, I'll reverse my stance if they can in the flash game.  The PDF doesn't seem to allow you to tame animals so doesn't say what is and isn't an animal, the whip disarms instead.)

Ok let me know if it tames later might be a good way to get low henchman too. Might try it for damage and disarm too though. 1d3 damage and disarm might be good

Want to run an idea off everyone, thinking of writing some short stories. These will be based off of d&d characters. They will be told from the perspective of a retired adventurer who now runs like a street food stall after hours 10 pm to 6 am. In the rougher parts of a city I will create.

He will be telling them to like a street urchin/ stall helper. These tales will be of some of the people who eat at the stall.

The whip does 0 damage in the PDF.  As I'm sticking with the flash ver. it doesn't disarm, but does d3 and tames animals.

Oof.  The character deaths are hitting me pretty hard... funny, but sad.  I'll go back to Basic (10 HP to start level 0) unless there's objections. At which point add 4 hp to your characters.

Yes I can take maybe 2 hits now, I like 10 hp for 0 level.

With 10 hp we should have monsters on doors or chances for them. Killing monsters also gives us better chances at loot. In game we also would get 10 xp per level on kill too so you could level while in the dungeon if you were a killing machine.

The door interactions slow me down a lot as I saw on one of the early thread when I had them. I like not using them as in the PDF rules, I'm sticking with the way it is for those.

I'm considering letting monsters count for xp again though as long as players can keep track of the xp for them, as I don't want to. Even though the xp from them is marginal, the game does feel lacking without it.

My only other fear with it is farming the coliseum for xp, which would be long, drawn out and take up a lot of my time, I'm thinking of a way of running that differently though.

I understand doors slowing down game. Xp kill should be easy to track for us though it is real simple and if they dont want to they dont have to.

I for one will keep track as it is an easy way to level. Since treasure has been a little slow.
