Off We Go

In reply to Wungarr (msg # 127):

There's a problem.

The body is too big to get out the hole back to above.  T'veyn, now that you can see it laid out straight, the body is about fifteen feet long.  And the shoulders are a little less wide than Wungarr is long.

The hole you jumped through is about five feet in radius.  You'll need to get out of the hole and dig out more of the tiles in order to drag the body up.

And you don't have a tremendous amount of time left.  You need to get back aboard within an hour.

Wungarr would use his troll dagger to try and cut the body off of his crewmate. A troll dagger was the same as a short sword for anyone else. He did not need to cut everything, just whatever connected to T'veyn.

One point in case it caused confusion Wungarr.

T'veyn is actually dragging the body by hand.  He's not caught on it.  He can just release his grip when he wishes.

Though feel free to cut away as you like.  Thanks

J'Rass had joined Antero, although he can easily outswim the human. But he need not go far, for the youngling was returning with his bounty. J'Rass looks over the odd situation underwater. He swims over to T'Veyn and the giant body. Now what was that all about?...

T’veyn barely stopped. He handed over the corpse to Wungarr and kept swimming for the hole. He had already been considering the more brutal possibilities of dismemberment as he went, the giantess that is, not his own. Hopefully. But the need for air was foremost.

Afterwards, and with the possibility of actually conversing, he could talk strategy. The first thing he said after gasping for air was simply, ”Rope! We have any rope?”

Unless someone has rope written on their PC sheet, I don't think you guys do have any rope.

Let me know what you want to try to do about the body.

Wungarr followed T'veyn to the surface, handing him a coil of hemp rope. He tries to ask why his crewmate is dragging a giant corpse...but it may not come out in dwarven.

In reply to Antero (msg # 137):

Still need to know how you guys want to get it through the hole.  Remember the hole in the floor is too small for the giantess' body to fit through.

But moving on...

The giantess is mummified, almost to the point of looking more carved than once fleshy.  But there are some details you can see from what you can observe.

First, the skin on her arms and neck appears to have been scaly.  Not quite like a t'skrang's skin.  The scales are/were a bit larger and more uniform.  The scales stopped about half way up her neck.

Her face was both beautiful and not.  Like an elf and an orc were her parents.  You can definitely tell she must have once been female.  At least that seems a reasonable guess. But her thin lips and button nose are offset by tiny tusks sticking out from her lower lip.  And ears that were pointed at the ends, but more crescent shaped than any of the Name Giver races any of you have seen.

Her hair, which is almost as long as her body, is a bit too wiry.  It's not fine.  It's more like strands of seaweed in texture.

T'veyn, the necklace is gone.  The comb is still there.

Wungarr gestures with his troll dagger, as if he would chop the gaint corpse up. Thus allowing it to fit through the smaller opening. "Why the bloody hells do we need a dead gaint?" He asked, wondering if it would be understood.

Off We Go

Still recovering his breath, T’veyn offers the rather nonsensical description of what had happened to him.

“It’s…. Not just a body. There’s something in it. In the hair. Slimy thing. Hiding.”

“There’s a shell necklace too. Could be similar to the one Lahylla was after. Think the slimy thing has it hidden in the-the hair.
I think we need to give it a haircut.”

He looked around. Perfectly reasonable suggestion, he thought.

Wungarr grunted, put away the rope and began to start said haircut with his troll dagger. Then he reconsiders and just tries to chop off the head. That way he could get the necklace and remove the creature hiding in its hair-cover.

In reply to Wungarr (msg # 143):

The hair manages to feel both slimy and abrasive.  The neck has the tenacity of oak.  But Wungarr's troll muscles win the day and the head is soon seperated from the body.

There is no necklace.

Nothing leaps out from the hair.  It's just...gross.  Even for a dead body.

There is a comb caught up in the hair.  It looks like carved shell or bone, polished to a pearly white.  There are fine streaks of silver running through it.  The comb might be worth a hefty sum.

“It swam off. With the necklace.” T’veyn mumbles. He was a little crestfallen. It’d felt really brave at the time, but now he was watching the troll hack up a dead body, for a hair comb.

He sniffed. Looked at the stick, wondering how much air was still in there, and if it recharged. Probably not, it had been picked, or dug up. Or whatever.

“Back to the ship?”

As you talk amongst yourselves, you all get the feeling you need to head back to the ship soon.  Your time is coming short.

I will let ya'll finish any discussions here.

You have a comb that seems to have some monetary value and the head of a giant...whatever she was.

If there is anything else anyone wants to do here, please let me know.  Otherwise, I will move us on to a new thread tomorrow.

Thanks

The material the comb is cut from is...some kind of polished shell.  That's all any of you can say for sure.  At least right now.  Maybe a merchant or someone knowledgable in minerals may be able to tell you.

If you think you have a skill that would assist, please feel free to roll

Off We Go

Eventually his staring off into space is broken. With a start T’veyn turns to Antero, as the group gather the various things and begin to move out. He looks a touch concerned.
“I don’t actually know. As big as a small child. Strong as a troll. Slimy. Didn’t fancy fighting it underwater. But…

Are mermaids slimy?”
He asked, a puzzled frown crossing his brow.
