Hi everyone, glad to meet you. I'm looking forward to starting the game!

My timezone is GMT+0 (Cardiff, Wales). I have a bit of experience in play by post in the past but not with an OSR ruleset like Into The Odd. Otherwise, I have GM'd and played in OSR games for a while.

I'm in the Washington DC area (GMT-5). I've played RPGs since Red Box and took to OSR after thumbing through the 4e book and putting it back on the shelf. I'm also currently running an Old School Essentials game and a Dungeon Crawl Classics game on here. I ran a Gangbusters B/X and a Marvel Noirverse freeform game previously.

I was in an Electric Bastionland game that had potential but never got to the first room (that's Bernard the Talking Dog)!

EXACTLY! It’s impossible to schedule 4 adults to meet on the same place these days. Hard enough to stage a Zoom call!

Joseph has asked if Haf and Thomas are acquainted. Thomas, would you like for there to be a shared history between the two characters or do you have something else in mind?

Sure. They'd be acquainted from the coffee shop, and depending on what Haf's background is, might know one another from elsewhere?

Absolutely! I expect we’ll all be ready for the delve on Tuesday.

It seems everyone is ready to start?

First tell me who the expedition lead will be. (If no one decides it will be Joseph.)

Each person gets one weeks worth of rations (or jerky and dog biscuits)

Please indicate who will be holding:

• Lantern
• Party Rations
• Mapping kit
• Climbing equipment (rope, grappling hook, iron spikes, small hammer)
• Grommeted tarp

Indicate how your party will march single file and double file. Bernard will insist on being with anyone up front.

I don't mind carrying the party rations. I've got low strength, so I don't think I should be totally out front...happy to be somewhere in the middle.

Haf has 15STR and 6 HP, so feel free to send him up front with the lantern.

Thomas will be bringing along a baton and a harpoon gun, so he's flexible when it comes to positioning.

It would make more sense (and be more convenient) to have the rations spread out among the expedition members rather than in one massive pack. (Several days of food for seven people would be REALLY heavy.)

Likewise, we should really have more than one lantern.

If we split the rations, I'll take the climbing equipment!

I have a pistol (and barely any HP), so I can hang back and hold the tarp.

Kostya’s player is bowing out of the game for now. I’ll keep him around as a DMPC for someone to jump into if they lose a character.

Is it possible for me to carefully reach into the passageway and grab Haf by his legs and pull him back into the forge?

Can I stick my hand and pistol around the corner, and blindly fire down the southern hall?

It would not be effective. You could expose yourself partially and a shot against you would be Impaired (d4).

Friendly reminder: Haf will die in one hour if he does not get medical attention.

Both hallways extend beyond the light of your lantern. Both are made of the same old bricks.

Is anyone open to the idea of a Paradigm Shift, shifting the rules to EB and giving you all Failed Occupations?

Uhm, I don't have that book/system so I'd have no idea what we were dealing with. (Not that I have a great grasp of this system yet either...)

It’s literally the same system, just WIL is relabeled as CHA and the setting is about a hundred years later. And there are over a hundred “classes” you could roll up.

I'm not opposed as long as it doesn't put any more work on you and this keeps rolling! Will we be retaining our original items and stats?

I'm in the same boat as Litton and Thomas: I have no experience with it, but I'm fine with switching if it doesn't put any extra pressure/work on you.

GM: from what I understand, there are three ways from here: back to the entry room, the tunnel that they came from, and another tunnel that we haven't been down. Is that correct?

And if so, does that other tunnel appear to lead back toward the entry room (to the door that we opened but didn't go through)?
