Cultural knowledge.

The people of the Baronies:

The Fleck:
A nomadic lot, the Fleck are a people without a home and their clan-caravans are usually seen roaming the back roads of the Baronies in their brightly colored carts and wagons. Led by a respected elder, each of the clans travel from city to city, from town to town, their wanderlust keeping them on the roads. As long as they have been, the Fleck have been seen by most others as at best, shifty and untrustworthy, to at worst, an outright menace. For example, it is common among mothers to scare their offspring with stories of kidnapped children, taken in the night by shapechanging monsters for not behaving.
In spite of this prejudice however, Fleck caravans present a rare oppotunity for smaller insular villages and towns to experience the wonders, tastes and smells of the wider world, and as such most caravans are usually met with wary curiosity rather than outright hostility. This had caused a lot of Fleck caravans to become as much travelling carnivals as actual trading caravans.
Setting up they campsite outside the village, or town, colorful tents spring up in no time, filled with various exotic performers, mysterious fortune tellers offering a glimpse into the furture, and menageries of tamed beasts, magical and otherwise, all filtered through with spiced smells and strange treats.
Stories persist though that the Fleck were not always as they are now. Tales spoken around the caravan fires of a flourishing kingdom which spanned much of the current Baronies. Dark tales of some unknown disaster, that caused this same kingdom to disappear suddenly and without warning, cursing those that remained to wander through their supposed former lands, a mere shadow of what they had once been, seeing their legacy slowly disappear.

The Sylfaen (Faunans):
The surviving elves from the fall of Fauna High, known as Sylfaen, or by the colloquial , slightly derogatory name Faunans, have since settled in surrounding baronies. The largest enclave lies in the Barony of Odhin, where the local prince allotted them a piece of land as a new home in exchange for their fealty. When they first arrived many of the survining elves were stunned by the loss of loved ones and of their old homeland with many initially unable to adjust to their new circumstances. As time has worn on the Faunans have begun to pull themselves back together, not to rebuild what was lost, but to forge a new future.

Tales and rumors:

The Light:
Over the years there have been reports, and stories, of a few people visited in the night by a mysterious light entity, who seemingly judges them on the 'Scales of Reckoning'. So far none of the learned scholars or esoteric mystics, who have researched this strange phenomena have succesfully unravelled this weird mystery.

Traditions and customs:

The Errantry Tour:
An old custom among the children of the nobility in Selincourt, is the Errantry Tour, where a noble youth sets out from Selincourt and into foreign lands and countries. There they are expected to right the wrongs they see, save the innocent, and improve the lives of those they meet. And it is only when words of their deeds find their way back to Selincourt and their name is known among the people there are they allowed to return home to a hero's welcome.
