I don't have a preference for character sheet format, so feel free to use your favorite template.

When everyone has confirmed they're ready, the early scenes will be at the Reflecting Pool in the Divine Realm.  Part of the interaction will be deciding how your character will appear in the Mortal Realm, so when we begin, feel free to make description choices that don't necessarily fit your final character "build."

I forgot to put on the character creation page to use (max - 2) HP after the first hit die rather than rolling.  I think one or two players have already rolled (and got worse than this), so please update to the better HP total.  Thanks!

Also, please go ahead and put your domains in your "bio" slot under your name, since at least to the other characters this will be the most clear and obvious of information.

Character sheets are looking good, and don't need to be entirely finalized until we move to the Mortal Realm.  So I'll open the scene at the Reflecting Pool if no one has questions in the next few hours.

All right, feel free to post when you're ready.  As I said before, there will still be opportunities to tweak characters (including equipment, abilities, and even race) before you hit the Mortal Realm.

Does anyone have UMD or Cure Light Wounds and Mage armor on their spell list? I’m considering picking up a wand of each so Elera doesn’t need to burn spell slots off of people, but she needs someone who could cast from the wands.

OK I give up.  What is UMD?  Tried to work it out but no, not happening.

As for the other two.  Shadowdale is very mush looking like a very shifty drow.  I can cast both.

Alchemist over here. UMD is a class skill. And I will have it.

I can so freely convert spells a few times a day into potions that last 24 hrs so spells like truestrike will be an option.

Will also have scribe scroll.

If you keep me flush with gold Ill keep you in consumables.

Sounds good, I'll let you both decide who holds onto the wands. If we end up burning through the CLW one for the party, then I'd be grateful if everyone pitched in for the next one.

I think the question is then.  Other than me do we have another healer in the party.
I may have to adjust my character if the answer is no.

Hello people, my Domains aren't quite set in stone but I'm gonna be playing a Barbarian.

Elera is an unchained monk, so it's mostly punching stuff.

Would the Players have an issues if I ask the DM to put in Language Bars?

I wanted to check, do we need to buy a holy symbol for our domain spells, and do we have one slot for each domain spell level like a cleric, or one slot for each domain spell?

No need for a holy symbol: the character themself is a "divine focus."

Let's go with the more powerful option: you have two spell slots at each level, one for each domain spell.

I'll put in language bars at some point soon.

When looking in the pool, the mortal forms that we see are those on the planet or those that have lived?

It's any mortal form the god imagines.  It's an aid to taking the form you wish; it's not people already in the world (in fact, they can't even see the mortal world right now).

I was wondering about that.  From the story being told.  Just wanted to confirm on how these mortal bodies were being offered/given.

The bottom line is that the god can take any mortal form available in the character-building rules.

I should mention for build purposes that you should not expect to be able to buy whatever magic items you want in this adventure.

Some players have mentioned crafting, and that's not a bad idea.

Level 2. not a lot of crafting beyond scrolls and potions. Give me time and Ill make a whole new world XD

Is there anything Elera can do to help with magical item crafting as a monk? I'm not familiar with the rules, but I'd like her to contribute something to the situation if possible.

Violence and crafting skills. Sometimes hyper potent monster bits can be used to make things.

But being able to craft things helps with that by cutting down on time spent making the base item. I only sculpt and work alchemy

Sounds good, I'll swap Linguistics for Craft (Jewelry) then. She's not particularly good (10 int), but hopefully it'll be helpful since a lot of wondrous items seem like they're jewelry?

Skeeve has Craft: Alchemy and, now, Craft: Weapons, but also Umbral Gear

When I can gain some other Feats I’ll be taking craft wondrous items. Magic is one of my Domains.

I wasn't planning for that.  If you're interested in having access to a third domain, we can discuss the appropriate cost of a magic item or feat progression for that.

Should I post these gifts publicly, or would you prefer I just share each one with the character that receives it?

Either is fine with me but if one was capable of spotting any changes in a character would they have the slightest idea?

Sure, I expect players will narrate items and abilities with visible effects.

Just, usually when it's done at the table, the other players get to enjoy learning about the neat items and abilities.  So it wouldn't bother me to share this stuff with everyone.

I happy to let the others know.  This game it funny as you sort of have a 1st level character and 20th character at the same time.

If I've done my accounting right, all that's left is two questions.  Then whatever further discussion you want to have before you move to the Mortal realm.

A bit late, but I'm happy with the answer Elera got. It helps to know that the party is supposed to be blending in with slaves. Mainly so she hides all the jewelry and stuff that would draw attention to her.



Can a character who is neither an undine nor underwater still remove a chain belt as a swift action?

Although described specifically in terms of undines, I read the item description as meaning that any wearer can detach and drop the belt as a swift action.

A couple of character sheets need corrections; check your PMs to see if that's you.

The new character is going to be an ifrit, so that should provide some fun art opportunities.

It is not the first time I had a really good back story with another player only for the character to drop out.  Which is why I have always learn to create a character that can stand on his own two feet.  For me it is a pity you could not find someone to take on her character but that may have taken more time than just gaining new player.

That's a fair point.  Since we're still in the "prologue" of the campaign, I figured letting the next player build their own character instead of taking on the existing one was reasonable.

Are people okay if Elera hands off the wand of CLW to Ludovic since Shadowdale can spontaneously cast it if someone needs to be stabilized and doesn't have the domain ability that boosts healing yet? It has 25 charges and a spring-loaded wrist-sheathe. The wand of mage armor ended up being one of the things I cut from her purchases.

It makes sense.
I have way more healing that just one domain spell.  I have a domain ability and something else as well.
So you may want check before using it unless it on me and I am out for the count.

Got some major time off at weekend so I do the adjustment to my character sheet then.

If you like to use one of your domain spells a second time per day a Pearl of power 1st level cost 1,000 gp.

The other question is if you don't mind is what armor are you using?

1st level wands are always good. If you’re evil, then infernal healing is 500 hit points worth of healing for 750gp. Hunt down potions that have powerful spells like invigorate which lets you ignore fatigue for 10 minutes. Pick up special material or masterwork weapons. Alchemical silver and cold iron are both cheap. Grab a cloak of resistance +1. Carry smelling salts in case you need to get one of the healers back up. You might be able to afford armor made with special materials. I’m not sure on account of being a monk. Definitely pick up masterwork armor so it can be enchanted eventually. Purchase masterwork tools for specific uses of a skill.

DESCRIPTION

This extremely light chain shirt (AC +4) is made of very fine mithral links. The armor has an arcane spell failure chance of 10%, a maximum Dexterity bonus of +6, and no armor check penalty. It is considered light armor.

OK - it is not as good as your AC +6 but if you get Dex up high enough it better.
However the real gain is no armor penalty and no drop in speed as it light armor.

I think it classed as master crafted so you can add magic adjustments to it.

Just a thought.

Yes, I'll allow that at character creation.  Any wands you craft later will need to obey the normal rules.

If you decide to travel today, then sure.

You're not intended to make any particular decision at this point.  The characters know their objective; the next steps are up to them.

There are no gods to steer their course... except themselves.

Is the party going to be walking or hustling, and is the base speed 20 ft or are you doing anything to mitigate that?

I presume we can move a bit and find shelter when it rains. New bodies. No knowing how fit they are. Do we even have calluses on our feet?

As many as you'd expect for the mortal form you took. You aren't newborns: you have wrinkles, freckles, calluses, and even scars if you think appropriate.
Just as you have skills and proficiencies, you know how to hike or march or travel just as the adventurer whose form you have would.

I don't think the characters are doing anything to mitigate it. I'd also suggest that they were walking. They do not seem to be in such a rush that someone needs to carry Skeeves, although, they may want to consider acquiring a donkey or mule for him to ride in the future. For future reference though, how much does Skeeves and his gear weigh? In case the party needs to run away from something very quickly.

Although, I think that going so slowly might start to bother Elera at some point. (It won't, she can find stuff to do during the extra time)

The dirt and occasional gravel that passes for a road is broad enough to accommodate two people without squeezing.  Let me know the traveling order and the group can head west.

Specifically, anything that usually requires moving at half speed, like foraging or tracking, is possible if your own move speed is at least 40 and the party is moving at 20.
This applies to more than just Elera, so feel free to consider doing something if it applies to you.

How do people feel about this proposed marching order?


It puts the melee people up front. Ludovic’s bombs are short range and Elera is fast enough to go in the second rank. Finally the last two casters are in the back.

The will is strong but my throwing arm isnt.

Seems good to me.

Shadowdale is an archer but I can use a longsword and with mage armor my AC not bad so that works for me.

it also keep snowy and Skeeve friends appwart as well.  Which may be a good idea.

Would you be comfortable having Shadowdale cast a mage armor for Elera? The wand ended up being one of the things she had to cut for costs. If you aren’t, then that’s okay as well. I’m sure there’ll be a chance for her to get potions of it at some point.

Workable for now; Skeeve may be more second rank, but we can tweak it later if it turns out to be the case

Ziklag will be able to help out here, too - especially as we advance in levels.  Mage armor is already one of his spells known.

I know things have started kind of slow. The group is wisely using caution, which means there's no good reason to have encounters yet.

Play by post take time it not like other games.
The best and most successful games allow everybody to post when they can.
Sometime a week may go buy with no post and then another with 3-4 per person.
Just take it easy and post when you can.

Putting Skeeve on the disk and hustling seems like an okay plan. It gets the party to their destination without causing fatigue. Can Elera dispel her floating disk before the duration has elapsed, or does it have to stick around for the full 2 hours?

Floating disk isn't "dismissable" in the official sense, but per the spell description you can dismiss it by sending it directly upwards or just running away from it.

Looking at the spell description closely, though, it says the disk only moves your normal speed per round. I take that to mean the disk doesn't hustle. So the fastest move speed you guys can move with this plan is 40, not 60.

Everyone except Skeeve, Elera, and Thaddeus hustling also works. If someone weighs less than 113lb, then they could also ride on the disk. Unless Thaddeus has the free carry capacity for Skeeve’s 87lbs. His strength score seems like it would be very high.

Skeeve hasn't logged on in a week - has anyone pm'd/rmail'd him?
