Okay, put this in the "Old Dog Can't Learn New Tricks" category if you're feeling uncharitable, or the "I Know What I Like and Like What I Know" if you are.
I just can't get a handle on the functionality of rpol. No disrespect to the site or those who run it--this is "it's not you, it's me." I'm extremely frustrated and it's working at cross-purposes to my eagerness to get the game going.
I've searched around and I have settled on rpg crossing dot com as a new host for MEHSV. I've made a login, submitted a game request, and will soon have it set up.
Their software/site functionality is what I'm used to, and I frankly think it works better for PBP.
Short explanation:
RPGC game functions are hierarchical, based on forums and the folders within them, kind of like a computer file menu, or like a general discussion forum you might see elsewhere on the internet.
Each folder and/or thread can be granted individual permissions to view and post, and the GM has control of all of that. It's far easier and more intuitive for me.
Sorry to do this, but it's better to rip the bandage off now and get it done early than invest a bunch of effort here when I'm frustrated.
So, anyone who wants to, please get yourself an account at RPGC. Once MEHSV exists there, I will let everyone know where it is and get people set up.
