Remember when we had to sit by staticky radios hoping and praying they would mention our schools ?

They did that for my niece and nephew while we were in Alaska,  as well.

I'll admit that it was more convenient than the old radio announcements,  though less dramatic.   :)

I remember watching the news hoping to see our school on the list at the bottom of the screen. This is so much easier

It usually ended up being ALL schools but mine closed.

That’s how this school has been lately. The last storm we got every other school in the area was closed but ours.

When we went last year, it was warmer there in Anchorage than in many parts of Maine, because of the warm Pacific currents.

At least Im quarantined with family I can stand lol.  Although, my oldest doesn't have any major symptoms of COVID right now, and they keep rubbing it in to the rest of us.

My in laws had that last year.   My brother in law was safe, but his wife and the kids were positive (they caught it from the grandparents who didn't like masks)
He stayed somewhere else so they could quarantine, and she got mad at him for "leaving her stuck with the kids"

Its me, my oldest, mom, and nephew all together right now. My youngest is quarantining with their dad, he has it too.  I think the worse for me right now is the shortness of breath and chest pain and not being able to taste anything.

Im sorry your inlaws went through that.

I remember when a coworker got it, and her sense of taste wasn't the same even a year later.  I hope you are able to recover

Sorry for the silence on my end. I’ve been working more lately as the hotel is picking up. I’m half dead by the time I get home so I’ve been crashing early or otherwise distracted. Life in general.

I’m going to try to get some posts in tonight and definitely tomorrow. We have another storm this week so I’ll be staying at the hotel tomorrow night.

Unfortunately, plans have changed
My family (two brothers and their wives, and my father) were in the state for a wedding for a child of a friend of the family (i wasn't really close to them, so i hadn't been invited) .  They'd been planning to come down here to our town, but at the wedding Dad got overheated (he's from Maine, and had trouble with the summers up there sometimes) and had a bout of high blood pressure, and collapsed at the wedding.   They called an ambulance and took him to the hospital, and he recovered very well.   They kept him overnight for observation, because his blood pressure was still high, but he gradually got better and they just now released him.
We're heading up there to where our family friend lives, since they don't want to stress him out with another long road trip

I’m sorry to hear about your dad, but I’m glad he’s doing better. Is Mainers can’t do that heat lol. I hope you have a good visit with your family.
