Re: Crèche of the Four Winds - Roost of the Thunderbird

That is exactly the right thing to do and she gets caught up in some local events that are not related to the visit of the Chaosians. Though since King Bastion is there, there is some talk of the Hydra Empire mostly just surface polite talk. He mentions that he is glad your looking well.

When the meal is over the Queen looks over, "Lady Tanique, I would like it if you stayed a while to entertain us with your wit and tell me some things I am curious about."

Others are filing out of the room.

Bastion thanks her for a lovely meal and smiles at Lady Tanique before departing.

Tanique nodded and smiled to the handsome king, and moved closer to her queen.  She smiled sheepishly, expecting a tongue lashing

When they were alone Queen Morrigan glances Lady Tanique's way.

"You risk your life, protecting mine and then vanish, how are you doing? Are you really alright, you look ok, but you and your mother have been known not to complain about your wounds. I wanted to hear everything you can tell me about that reprehensible guest."

Re: Crèche of the Four Winds - Roost of the Thunderbird

tanique nodded and shrugged.
"I'll admit that I was trying to mostly stay out of the way whilst I was recuperating.  But I see now that I took things too far and wasn't thinking.  My apologies."
She pondered the question.

"I'm not sure what else I can tell you that your sorcerers haven't.  But I'll try.  He was strong and tough.  Though that makes sense for a Chaosian, I suppose.  Father says that they're not normally as physically imposing as his people in Amber, but they are no frail shadow folk, and have incredible healing abilities, as we've seen.
He was an accomplished shapeshifter, being very fast with his powers.  So I'm guessing he was very old or just a skilled prodigy.   He was able to cling to the castle walls with his claws, even in a storm wind that would dislodge most Knights. And even the fall didn't kill him.
I hope we're still keeping the corpse under strict watch, ma'am. "

"There was no sign of life in him and no psychic presence. He was crated and sent off with his kinsmen. I won't be entertaining political dialogue with them after this and his family made enough of a show of repentance that he will be buried in their traditional way into the Abyss. We are still checking the lands and castle for anything he may have left behind. The road has been withdrawn something your mother was sure they could do, turns out she was correct."

Tanique nodded
"I'll admit I was a bit concerned about the Road.  I had presumed that it would be temporary, as a permanent one seemed like a social faux pas, but I wasn't positive."

"When I was younger, I had seen such roads and believed the same or I would have been less than pleased. In the kingdom's earlier days visitors from the Courts was more common under other rulers. It has been a while and I thought this would mark warming relations. Sad that it was all destroyed by a foolish Chaos Lord. Did he say anything more that you remember that gave any clues as to why he did this?"

Tanique started to shake her head, but then caught herself and frowned in thought

"When I was holding him the first time, just before he 'poisoned' himself,  however he did that, he said something. 'Patiens victis'? I think?"

Morrigan nodded and leaned back seemingly studying the ceiling for a bit before looking back to Tanique.

"It is ancient Thari, if your father were still here I could consult with him though I think part of it means suffering."

"Well he isn't suffering anymore. Though it might have been some curse though no magic was detected in that area. He was a mage though from what our own practitioners and guest have been able to gather. Your mother is back at the border I am going to keep her there for a while. Your father seems to have been called back to Amber. What will you be doing ?"

Tanique raised an contemplative eyebrow and looked at her queen.
"I had plans to explore shadow a bit, perhaps even visit my father in Amber, or perhaps visit Liya in the Hydra Empire.  But what do you need me to do?  I will stay around as long as you need me."

"Well, while I enjoy having your presence especially as it is known of your penchant for self sacrifice in protecting me. I am not incapable of protecting myself. Your family did me a service during the ball and I did thank them and you, yourself will gain reward for what you have done. You are young and still full of the stirrings of the storm winds. So I won't fault you if you wish to go." She smiled a bit it seemed a wistful smile.

"Allow me a day or two to arrange a ceremony to honor you and add a medal to your uniform, before you wander off if you would."

"Trust me it is for, myself, the kingdom and to show the other Lords, Ladies and guard that such service is rewarded and honored. Also for some of them to shame them for not acting." She looked to Tanique letting her words sink in.

Tanique chuckled lightly, lowering her eyes.
"Well, if this will help the kingdom, and the other defenders, I suppose I can't say no.   Thank you, Majesty.   Do you have any duties for me until then, or shall I just try to focus on recuperating here in the castle?"

"Rest and relax in the castle, you may make use of anything you need. Speak to my servants if you have need of something. Be vigilant though, I am allowing for at least a half season of high vigilance and inspection along the path of the Black road. Also while you were away your friend Ashton has been looking for you, he is in one of the guest rooms currently. For his safety he has a guard so no one confuses him for a chaos agent."

"I'll confess that I was presuming that my father was staying around longer, and would be visiting with Ashton, so perhaps he's been waiting for me to return him home.  With your permission, I'll return him home and rush back, perhaps?"

He is in a guestroom looking out a window looking sad. Until he sees you that is.
Then a big smile comes across his face.

"Are you here to perhaps bring me home ? I will talk with my kin about some moving to Arden. Might be nice working with the little prince again."
