Read Me First!

Prospector,
You have no doubt heard the legends of the Archmage Iggwilv. Myths claim her to be greater in power than almost any mage that has since lived, capable as she was of besting even the demon princes single-handedly. Her defeat and retreat to the Caverns of Tsojcanth are thought mere fable by most learned scholars.

But what if you were to discover the entrance to Lost Tsojcanth? What if you could place your hands upon the library of Iggwilv herself?

As an agent of the Institute Archeologica, you normally take commissions to head into the dangerous places of the world and retrieve artifacts thought lost to time. You are usually paid handsomely for this service...

But we have a different sort of commission for you now. The Margrave of Bessil has informed us of some grave news: It seems that the villainous Black Jackal Society has uncovered the entrance to Caverns of Tsojcanth - and is already nearing their ultimate prize, the fabled library of Iggwilv.

You must go to this cavern. Investigate. Find the library. Beat the Black Jackal Society before it is too late.

Wishing you every inch of success
Grandee Trusford, High Scholar of the Institute Archeologica.

Welcome
Are you ready to explore the unknown and uncover ancient treasures like a magical version of Indiana Jones or Lara Croft? Players' characters are members of the Institute Archologica - an organization that is all about digging up ancient treasures.

There is a big ol' dungeon and you need to investigate it to find the Library of Iggwilv before your hated rivals, the Black Jackal Society, get there first.

You'll be exploring, roleplaying, and maybe even fighting your way through the dungeon. Once you've obtained the stated treasure - the library of Iggwilv - the adventure and the campaign are over.

The Characters
Fair warning, I do not own the entire back catalog of 5e resources. As such, I want to keep things pretty easy to manage. As such, I'd like to keep things mainly to the PHB but, if you can make a really good case for it, I may allow other content too. Please note that simply saying 'because I want it' doesn't really qualify.  That said, some hard passes are going to be:
- The Artificer class. I don't have the rules for them.
- Any lineage/race that flies or tunnels.
- Anything too far into the realms of weird or gonzo
- Edgelords
- Joke characters
- Multiclassing

For Attributes, please use the standard array. Racial APB can be relocated to any attribute but cannot stack on top of one another.
Characters are going to begin play at 4th level (not at 6th as stated for the module). They'll begin play with double the normal starting gold. I'll distribute some magical items before the game begins based on the background and class of each character... there will be some negotiation on this point.

To RTJ
Please do not send me a character sheet straight away. I have a process I like to complete.
  1. Send me a message with the character concept, race, class, and a little information about you and any games you run or play on RPOL - I'm just looking to understand you better.
  2. I will ask you to send me a Role-played response to a prompt in a private message, just to gauge your style and if it meshes with my own.
  3. There may be some questions I have about your character which I'll ask you and await your response.
  4. At this point, I'll select my four-person team and ask the lucky people to submit a character sheet. If you've not been selected, I'll ask if you'd be interested in being a sub, ready to drop in when the inevitable ghosting begins.

When will the game end?
The game will end when:
- Iggwilv's library is discovered
- Less than 2 players wish to continue the game and no one wants to sub into it
- The draft for the inevitable 3rd World War begins and I'm called up
- The posting rate slows to a crawl and then stops completely
