Myrmidon, Coyn System 4-16-18 - 5-11-18

It took *much* longer than expected to get the course right for the Coyn System.  When you finally arrive, Coyn is a large planet, very green, owing to expanses of forest and shallow seas.  Ship's systems let you know, and with your LCDR's new pattern, you're 12 hours on, 12 off.

There's nothing particularly interesting for nearly a month.  Lots of traffic; once or twice some complainers, but once the Marauder show up off their bow, they've backed down.

But not today...

5-11-18: 1649hrs, II Flight on Duty

You're 'lounging' in the hangar, in the makeshift space at the forward end, on the ready.  Yesterday, you spent the shift doing lazy laps around the Myrm as the Myrm did lazy obliques around Coyn and Coyn's moon.  Today, you're doing nothing.  Keeps you on your toes?

But then the lights flick to red and the alarm goes off...

"II Flight, II Flight: Launch-Launch-Launch!" crackles the speakers.  Sailor (I-3) Listian Sol, your hangar control rate for today, drops his comic book and starts hitting buttons on the panel.  Another Vanger (I-2) bolts for the safety lock from Shadea's TIE where they were working so as not to get swept out...

"Almost ready Sirs!" yells out Sol over the din of the impulse engines jumping up to All Ahead Full...

As was her custom, Arry was in her flight suit but had the chest and backpack off and ready to be put on within seconds. She was finishing fastening them as she ran to her fighter and waited to be told she could board and launch.

"Fly straight and true," she told her squadron mates. "Avail ourselves well for the Empire."

Zinda dashes for her fighter, as ever flustered by the sudden alarm, arriving a little after Arry. "They give any indication of what the alert was about?" she asks as she runs through her checklist. Not that she needed any information to let her imagination run wild. "Esk 21, launching! Best of luck, friends."

Kenth had been on the far side of the bay lending a hand to some of the techs just to pass the time. Whn the alert sounded he had to sprint for his locker and almost jump into his flight suit. Climbing into the Tie fighter cockpit he quickly went through the pre-flight check before launching. "Usk 22 launching, I got your six guys."

The 'floor' of the hangar bay flickers as it seamlessly drops, allowing your TIE/In to drop into space; as soon as you're clear you're slamming the ion engines to 100%;

data starts flooding into your system computers; there's a bulk hauler moving *way* faster than it should, mounting *way* more turrets than is allowed, and it's firing on the Myrm!

Zinda gasps. An Imperial warship being directly attacked is very aggressive, and she didn't expect it. "Have the bombers launched? I don't think our lasers are going to do too much to that thing, except as weak points." She studies the form of the frigate on display. Perhaps the turrets... there had to be a weak spot.

"Dom One-Nine launching and forming up with the rest of the flight," Arry called out as her fighter dropped and screamed into the void of space. She was already doing the same thing Zinda: looking for weak points.

"If we attack from different vectors, we can force them to angle their deflectors. I suggest simultaneous strikes to their dorsal and ventral surfaces."

You can see the blue flashes of electricity as the turrets on the bulk hauler spits hundreds of mass driver rounds at your Myrmidon.

"Two flight we are launching additional support.  We want that ship intact if possible.  Prevent them from going to hyper.  Do not destroy, copy, do not destroy."

"Acknowledged Dom One-Nine. I'll make a run along the ventral, breaking formation." With that Kenth rolled left and angling under the ship begin his strafing run in tandem with the others.

He was also trying to recall any specifics on this class hauler for possible weaknesses.
