Character Creation Discussion

I know the setting isn't solidified yet, but if you already have an idea of what you want for your character then you can start working on it.  Share as much or as little as you want here, and discuss connections that you might have with each other (with or without an associated Aspect).

I've opened up character sheets for all of you as well.  Should be unlocked, but let me know if yours isn't.  Also let me know (here or privately, as you prefer) if you need help with working through character creation.

Character Creation Discussion

If you haven't gotten the full rulebook, or just don't have access to it when it's convenient, here's the summary of character creation:

1. Aspects - the Mighty Deed on which your reputation is based, the Temptation which risks getting you into trouble, and three others which can be pretty much anything (though at least one should connect you with one or more of the other PCs)

2. Approaches - assign scores of +2, +2, +1, +1, +1, and 0 however you like

3. Stunts - you get one for free, and can buy up to two more by decreasing your Refresh the same amount

4. Gear - your character sheet lists the basics that everyone starts with.  You may add one or two personal items if you'd like.  You then get two enhancements, and you can choose to add them both to the same item or to two different items.

5. Steed - distribute 2 points however you want between the three vehicle stats.  Give it one Aspect, one stunt that will mainly be usable in combat, and one stunt that will mainly be usable outside of combat.

6. Light pattern - this is basically your coat of arms, but it looks like there should be synthesizers playing.  No mechanical effect, but it's one more thing that is unique to your character.

5. Faithful Old Workhorse: Probably one of the oldest functioning steeds, Juniper's achievements aren't in the speed trials. She may require almost constant tinkering but she rarely gives up. (I thought this was a good idea, but something seems missing)

Struggling with Prydain a bit.
I don't know his mighty deed yet, but I was thinking that he wasn't there during the battle against the Megapod, he arrived three days later.

That would probably lead to a lot questioning his loyalty/honour etc.

Then after he found out about the king's sacrifice, Juniper wouldn't start at all for two weeks, that in itself may have led to many calling for his knighthood to be withdrawn. After the first few days of this he stopped trying to repair her and just said. "Okay, you want to be left alone for a bit."

For the Steed, if you want to lean into the heavy endurance trait then you could make one or both of the stunts be about that too.

For Prydain himself, maybe the Temptation could be something about overwhelming guilt, or pressure to prove himself or redeem himself (but in a way that creates more complications, not positive motivation - for that it would need to be in a different Aspect slot, though you could do that instead if you want).  And it sounds like he's been a Knight for a while, so his Mighty Deed could really be anything you want - the Megapod might or might not be harming his reputation right now, but what did he do before that which impressed the hell out of everyone?

I was thinking he's only been a knight a short time. It depends on when the megalopod battle occurred. Chroma's description in the thread suggested to me it was fairly recent and we were still picking up the pieces, bit that could be a wrong assumption.

I took it as being maybe a few months ago.  If an exact time frame is important than we can decide on it.

This raises another question though - if you are relatively new to knighthood, what's the story with the Old Workhorse steed?  Did you inherit it from someone else?  Or is it more just a description of how it's built, and I shouldn't be reading so much into it?

I thought he maybe he returned a dead knight and his steed from a quest.

I'm equally happy to just make it Workhorse. And that should dodge the problem.
